marusan did a bunch of re issues in the late 90s and that was one of them . some were sent to the U.S directly and those got a special paint treatment . yours is the japanese version . back in 1970 a giant size of this figure was made but i have never seen one .

awesome. thanks for the info. the foot is marked 1970, but the header says 1998. glad to have gotten the japanese one. i bet the big one is amazing. i'm pretty sure this dude is plastic, which is weird. just a weird, weird guy.

Got one in the colorway posted above. Also have the slightly darker older one. Check with some of the older toy sellers like kimono, toyranch etc. They're not rare yet or I wouldn't have been able to get mine.
I'm actually putting together a shelf of vegetable monsters. Need a big greenmos and a Satan rose...
