The one with the turquoise blue is quite spectacular.

 Re: marusan originals
Those are great, just wonderful. Why aren't more people into the vintage stuffs? Well, actually, prices run high enough already, I suppose. Da*n but they are very nice.

 Re: marusan originals
Also so many people are into collecting just a few of their favorite sculpts, instead of a mob scene like those with many vintage pieces. I like mobs, so the cost is my main deterrent however.

I don't seem to click with the buying services...by the time I find something and calculate fees I'm usually gibbering. Are there any toy stores here in the US that sell this stuff and don't collect purchase price with a chainsaw?

 Re: marusan originals
I emailed Eiji Kaminaga at Marusan. Unfortunately, no answer as to why they have no logo, he's stumped himself, but their names are Parabiras and Galapagos. He believes these are the only two that don't have logos.

 Re: marusan originals
Found another one with no foot stamp. I don't know its name, or if it's an original or repro. This was one of the sculpts reissued, but I've only seen a yellow-brown colorway. Thanks to the board member that sold this to me. I like it.

I like it. i saw an original of this figure at gojira-ya in tokyo, and it was a brownish color if i remember right, so id guess the red is a repro? i could certainly be wrong though. its a great figure, i was about to pick it up, but saw something i needed more, so i put that dude back.

 Re: marusan originals
was curious about this one. I've got this version as well. No stamp on the bottom, thought perhaps it might be a boot

 Re: marusan originals
Thanks Josh. Yeah, I've seen a photo of the original and it's a different brown than the normal/common repro- definitely not the same as this one.
Some of the Maru originals were given two different colorways when they were reissued; I'm guessing that might be the case here.

 Re: marusan originals
I believe the red kaiju pictured above was a Day Old Antiques exclusive. That shop had 8-10 of the Marusan reissues painted especially for them in runs of 50 each, if I remember correctly.

Those are great. Are those picked up on y!aj? Marusan pickings on ebay are few and far between.

 Re: marusan originals
I'm running into this issue with minis: no marks or different ones or very tiny ones. I've been selling or trading off larger re-issue pcs to get minis; not sure if they're all boots or what. Getting 'em 'cause I like 'em. But is there one single database or site that has a translated collection of marks?

 Re: marusan originals
Thanks for the name... it's hard without foot stamps. There are probably more like 10 sculpts in that series (counting Ultra Ace and the robots). Interesting- ToyboxDX has a report on the Day Old Antiques set from way back in '98: http://www.toyboxdx.com/ramblearchive/r-9804.html

 Re: marusan originals
Not hating on the 'modern' sculptors at all, but there is something so genuinely primitive about classic vint sculpts. Something about them reminds of being a kid, perhaps. Nice items!

 Re: marusan originals
Found photos of the Day Old Antiques versions (minus one or two): Ningen Robot Mandora Ellekusu Dorango Giant Gorilla Zagaraus Bera Bamel Pretty wild. I was set on buying only the vintage pieces, but these are kind of neat.

 Re: marusan originals
Were these released in by Marusan USA? The ones I see over my side are all different colors except for Bera.

 Re: marusan originals
Marusan-USA sold some of these long after they were made, but they were manufactured by Marusan Hobby, which was actually the previous incarnation of Marusan (the current one is Marusan Toy).
Hyper Hobby Dash 11 has pics of all of the reissue variants.
