I've been thinking about this for a while but onibaba5' "Kaiju Belong in Hot-Rods not on Tricycles!" thread prodded me to ask aloud. It seems like an old familiar go-to today but where/when/how did the whole Kaiju in planes/tanks/tricycles get started? From Kaiju Art Collection:

all this started becaues it was easy for a manufacturer to take a trike that was used for a celluloid kid or bunny and put a barum one in the seat and save on production costs. same goes for tin cars where all they had to do was litho the car with graphics from a show, and sometimes put a vinyl head on it.
