Post Vintage Paper
Besides collecting vinyl, I also enjoy collecting the advertising material that went along with the vinyls as well as other paper goods featuring great kaiju or hero art. I posted this picture earlier, but for the new members, this is a promo poster for Bullmark that was given to toy shop owners. I don't think there are very many of these around today. It is one of the prizes of my collection.
Image

This is another prize. It is a poster advertising a live show for Return of Ultraman (Jack) drawn by Noritsuna Maemura. He was the artist who drew most all of the Ultraman series header and backing cards. He also did art for other products for different companies like frame tray puzzles, pop-up books, record jackets, and pencil boards. If you want to check out more of his art, search out the book Ultra's Artist Noritsuna Maemura World ISBN4-344-80426-0. You will not be disappointed.
Image

This is a smaller size catalog by Bullmark that features vinyls up to Mirrorman. It also includes the Bullmark versions of the Colorforms aliens and a cool page of art by kids. I also like how the kanji and even some of the katakana is also marked in hiragana so kids could read it.
Image

Image

Image

This is the smallest Bullmark catalog I have ever seen. It features a nice little picture of the toy along with stats on the kaiju. It's marked No. 2, so there must be a No. 1.
Image

Image

This is a poster/catalog by Modern Toys (Masudaya) featuring their line of Spectreman vinyls and one of Gekko Kamen.
Image

Hope you guys enjoy these. I have a lot of the more common posters featured in the Bullmark Story book and some other cool stuff too that I would be glad to share. Let's see some of your vintage paper whether it's adverts, posters, backing/header cards, pop-up books, album or 45 covers. As long as it's cool kaiju or hero art.

Totally sweet. I'm really happy that we can at least own the reproductions of some of these by way of the Bullmark Chronicle book!

Mark, that first Bullmark poster is something I've been searching for forever. Awesome score!

Maybe vintagevinyl will repost a picture of his Marusan Original Kaiju poster, that thing rocks.

Absolutely beautiful. In a way, I like this stuff even better than the toys (ever so slightly). I also like the old ish of "Daily Yomiuri" (I think) that has a young Japanese woman surrounded by Bullmarks. Didn't PK do a mock-up of that with SOB's and dollys?

It's really damn weird seeing the occupation/war from the "Axis" perspective.

I forgot that a lot of those Yoshitoshi prints were originally printed in newspapers. His work is pretty amazing (and often pretty twisted)....

It's not paper…it's tin but it does feature art by Noritsuna Maemura.
Image

It's a store display used for hanging the Bullmark "foot forward" Ultramen vinyls. This scan is taken from a dealer catalog which offers this display for 300 Yen plus 10 Yen for shipping.
Image

You know those little footprint stickers that came with the Popy Kingsaurus series of Godzilla and Ultraman vinyls? If you collected 15 of them and sent them in on the form that was also enclosed, this is what you got in return. This scan is of the Ultraman side. The other side features Godzilla. They also did a similar book for the chogokin series. I have never seen one of those in person because every time one comes up, those crazy chogo collectors bid it out of my league.
Image

The book has lots of nice pix of Ultraman and Godzilla kaiju with all their stats.
Image

It also features some games, puzzles, stories, and this tour of filming on the set of a Toho G-film.
Image

It also shows the process by which a vinyl toy is made, in this case, Jiras.
Image

This is not very vintage, but I think it is lots of fun. A few years ago Japan Rail (JR) did a huge advertising campaign featuring Ultraman and kaiju. It was aimed at getting people to be more polite on trains. This one features Ultraman being bothered by Eleking's careless smoking. There were also ones of Baltan, Dada, and some more I can't remember. Enjoy.

Do you have a pic of the Chogokin one you can post? I'd like to see it!
