Is there gonna be any gargamel in the mook?

Tue Oct 23, 2007 11:51 am

hey brian....

....have you considered speaking with ron turner or colin tuner at last gasp? they are here in town and have excellent relations with some good printers and binders over seas. they've always carried your magazine and i'm sure they would be very happy to assist with upcoming issues as far as the printing goes.

just a thought. their books come out on time usually! ;)

Let it hang out baby, let it hang out now, now na-na now
Let it hang out baby, everybody work out

Considering this is Brian's business I'm pretty sure he has things well in hand. And as has been stated by Brian and others time and time again, delays have been as a result of making the Mook the best it can be, not rushing it off to the printer to simply get it into circulation.

Arrrgghhh... can't get that song out of my head now.

i was simply stating this idea as something to look into for future issues. Last Gasp has been in the publishing industry for well over 35 years now and they are local and very nice peeps, too. they publish some of the best new art books in the industry so they have access to maybe some printers that super7 does not, considering they have only been publishing a few years. it was only a suggestion, no need to be so....snotty?

For pursposes of full disclosure, you should probably also say that you do, or did, work for Last Gasp. Wouldn't hurt. I am not questioning that LG would be a good publisher for this kind of thing, though I don't have a clue.

Welcome Geo!

Well, i think Brian and the rest of the crew are aware that i do some work for last gasp from time to time, mostly SDCC help, and they were the publisher of my own book as well. no secrets. besides, i only sell what i believe in and last gasp are one of the finest publishers aroiund in my opinion. it's not easy to stay afloat doing fringe and niche publishing but they have persevered and been successful at it. not to mention that ron turner is one of the most sincerely giving and generous people i have ever met, and by turn, his son colin, who is set to take over when ron finally decides to retire. they are both very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the publishing industry and i just thought that it might not hurt to enquire about these things...also, while colin is not a huge toy buff, he does have a lot of interest in japan and makes several trips a year to scout out certain japanese book properties and publishers that they are interested in carrying, notably pie books, who publish a lot of graphics and art books from japan. i just see some mutual interests and cross-overs and dont see how it could hurt to find out more. that's all. peace

I dont care if baby seals get hurt in the process of making this mook, i can barely wait any longer!!! Though I would perfer that no baby seals were harmed in the making if at all possible...

Last Gasp rules!

Last Gasp is a wonderful publisher and distributor, and I consider Colin a friend of mine. The reason we were delayed, was not on printer error, but because we added so many bells and whistles to the book, it takes that much longer to make. It is almost here!

Printing usually isn't the problem. Editting is....what stays, what goes...that stuff takes forever to figure out.

How we looking? this would make an excellent xmas present for some folks I know..

Outstanding foresight and planning . . . adding bells in time for Christmas and whistles to bring in the New Year . . . always one step ahead of the game Mr F! :D

I'm sure it's gonna be worth the wait!

Well I for one have no problem waiting for the Mook. The only concern I have is how up to date it will be by the time it comes out. Sooo many stuff came out from the time this was supposed to drop and when it will drop ya know? Just sayin is all..

Sun Nov 18, 2007 8:49 pm

The mooks are so close I can almost feel the paper in my fingertips. Almost like they were stuck in a dock somewhere waiting to get x-ray'd. Almost like I could have a the subsciber copies at the turn of the month (dam thanksgiving holidays!) Almost like it is real.....
