I asked the owner about Jinxed carrying Kaiju- he says its not his bag, and he doesn't know whats hot, or what makes one more valuable then another... :?

If I ever hit the lottery, or somehow become wealthy I'm totally starting a vinyl toy shop in the area.

sept. 10 sounds good btw- hopefully I'll have some stuff to trade.

Philly:
Tattooed Mom on South Street is a good option;
It's a bar/restaurant that's kinda circusy, kinda tattooed hipster dive. Decent food, perogies, corndogs, et all.
Under 21 are allowed in until I THINK 9 but don't quote me. They have vinyl toys (western) as part of their decorating, so a group of toygeeks wouldn't really bat an eye.

If you guys can't find a spot, the bar I manage has an extra unused floor that I can donate if the meeting is earlier in the day; we're 21+ but I can make exceptions if you stay on the top floor. We're a niche market bar, but since the floor would be closed, you wouldn't be gawked at while you exchange toys. No food but I'd be ok with you bringing food in as long as you policed your area before you left.

http://www.bestcheesesteaks.com/ordering.htm

Here's some jargon that might save you some trouble. The cheese steak people take ordering very seriously.
Tattooed Moms you can just go in and grab a big table- or put some tables together- or grab one of the couches in the back. No reservation or anything required. That early, and you're likely to find open space.
Jim's Steaks is a few blocks away; living a block from Pat's and Geno's for almost a decade led me to the realization that Jim's is better than both of them.

Things to do on South Street:
4th and South: Eyes Art Gallery. Super overpriced, but fun.

10th and South: The Magic Garden. Featuring the mosaic art of artist Isaiah Zegar (who's wife owns Eyes Art) the Magic Garden is pure chaos. You'll see Isaiah's mosaics all over Philly, but this is his life project.

Between 6th and 7th: Atomic City Comics: Decent comic store.

6th and South: Repo Records: great CD and LP selection.

4th and South: Philadelphia Eddie's Tattoo.
The one closest to South is owned by Topper, and the one closest to Bainbridge is owned by Troy of Tattooed Kingpin. Both decent shops.

Lot's of food for wandering; Indian, Middle Eastern, Sushi, Burgers. There are vegan and vegetarian options on South as well.

Dont get me wrong, the store as a whole is cool. Plus they didnt mind me reading all their tattoo mags while my son was picking out his toys, which was mighty cool of them.

There's also Brave New Worlds Comics on what, like 3rd and Market- nicest Comic Shop I've seen in a while, and there's a good music shop like 3 buildings down from that...

As for the Cheesesteaks, you know I've been in the Philadelphia area my whole life, and I've never had a Pats, Genos or Jim's steak... :) I like the pizza shop on south thats underground almost, there's a bar over top of it with a balcony.... like between 4th and 5th I think?

I totally didn't think about Brave New Worlds. I've done art shows there and know the owners pretty well. They have that huge area up front where they ave art shows. I've seen groups meet there before, it may be a good spot. They have vinyl toys, but nothing this board would find too interesting.

Also, Pat's and Geno's are real touristy. There are better ones in the city. I know the exact pizza shop you're referring to on South St. I've eaten there before.

I haven't been to Tattooed Mom on South Street in a while, but I remember cocktails (happy hour) on Saturdays being fairly slow- perfect for a small group to take over a couch.
