Probably the same as your place in sf...80 inside. (We don't have ac in our condo either. It makes the nights really hard to sleep.)

Going to do the weekend shopping (we need lots of ice cream! ). Then off to Japantown and maybe S7! Stay cool everyone, but whatever you do, don't go to Half Moon Bay, the traffic is horrific http://511.org/

Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
Looks like a lot of people are spending the holiday at local destinations. The roads and highways were jammed going to 19th Ave., Sausalito (art festival), and Santa Cruz--511.org showed the roadways as solid red and/or black (very slow to creepy crawlie traffic). We ended up going to Half Moon Bay to walk along the beach, then caught a movie--District 9 (not bad-slow at start, slightly annoying stereotypes, but entertaining). Still a little blue that we can't go to Toy Karma 2.

Anybody else up watching the lightning and listening to the thunder? A thunderstorm in San Francisco. How often does that happen? I love it!!!

Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
That was very surprising when I heard the thunder last night...and then lightning too! I miss hearing it!
I've been here 15 years and only recall thunder maybe 2-3 times before.
Why don't we have thunderstorms in SF anyways? I googled it and didn't really come up with anything.

Why don't we have thunderstorms in SF anyways? I googled it and didn't really come up with anything. My pointy headed professorial Hubby says... Thunderstorms require heat and high humidity, because they work by water vapor and humid air condensing into liquid water changing into cloud droplets. When water changes from vapor state (water as vapor, in the atmosphere) to liquid state (condensing into water droplets), heat is given off and that heat is what drives a thunderstorm. Lightening is created by a charge difference between the ground and the air. Generally this is in the form of static electricity, generated by air molecules rubbing against each other as warm air rises up into the atmosphere. Thus, places that are hot and have high humidity tend to have lots of thunder and lightening storms (even though SF can have high humidity when it fogs, it is cold, and warm air doesn't rise to the atmosphere-where molecules do that brushy up against me thing to create static electricity)

Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
Oh my goodness RedYoda!!! I BURST out laughing hysterically when I saw that! Can't even imagine Mark spiffied up in a suit and tie like that (except for his "important" meetings). Thanks for adding a much needed dose of "sunshine" (ergh! what a dreary day!). Mark says hello too, and says, "hey, where'd he get that photo of me?" You are a mean mean man with Photoshop! Hubby and I were skunked on our tide-pooling expedition to Half Moon Bay. What a cold and soggy day! We consoled ourselves by walking around the galleries and then headed down to Super 7. Josh had set aside Super 7 magazine, issue #8, which had a special feature on... UGLYDOLLS! Thank you Josh! While there, I spied Butanohana King Joe in 4 parts, a CUTE Nakajima green villian (description says he's from Astro-mu), and a Sun & Brown dino! There are still treasures in the vintage shelves! Mr. Humphreys, has been very sick for the past 2.5 weeks, and I just had to buy him some get well gifts. Poor kittee, he is enjoying his Sun & Brown dino as you can see here...

Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
Aha! So that's why! I couldn't find the episode featuring King Joe (on Netflix), but I read about him on Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Joe_(Ultra_monster) So those parts turn into ships. Must find that episode Yeppers, poor Mr. H has been on antibiotics for 2.5 weeks and the vet extended it to another week. He has a really bad bad cold-sneezy, weepy, ear infection, eye infection. We've been giving him meds non-stop . He's lost 3 lbs! Very worrying ...darn! It's only 1am, and Hubby is making me go to bed.... now!

Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
Ergh! Cannot stop thinking of the LAST of the handmade Uglydolls at the Stitch Mono show! I keep checking my email hoping to hear that I'm the proud new Mummee of a soft Ugly. Need positive vibes please! Our Kittee is finally feeling better. I am chasing him around the house with a syringe, trying to inject some water into cat mouth--he's quite dehydrated, but feeling better (Mom, stop that!) P.S. Joe, are you STILL up! It's 3:26 am! People are starting to receive emails from Stitch. None yet for me. Ah... the suspense!

Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
Thank you Nate! I held Mr. H up to the screen, so he could appreciate the photo (I did! Pretty neat to see King Joe all split up again), but he only looked at the floor! My kittee is approximately 5 years old (we adopted him from a rescue foster home, so his exact age is not known). He is still RAPIDLY loosing weight, and I am reallly alarmed now . He was 17.2 pounds 1.5 months ago, and tonight he is down to 13.8 pounds. He restarted a 3 week course of antibiotics (finished a 3 week treatment 1.5 weeks ago, and seemed to be improving, but started showing sickie symptoms after stopping the meds). He seems to be improving (originally sneezing a lot, having difficulty drinking and eating), but our main worry is his rapid weight loss. If anyone has experienced these symptoms with their kittee and had successful treatment, I'd be curious to hear what your cat received for treatment. FYI, kittee has a normal blood count and results, except his white count is up slightly. They anesthesized him, and used a scope to examine his throat and airways--nothing stuck and no foreign matter. His gums and teeth are normal. X-rays show no sign of tumors and blood work show no signs of cancer. His lymph nodes feel normal--no inflammation. I am very worried

Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
we had cats with chronic colds where they sneezed huge goobers that had blood in them. these two cats had this sneezing for over 1.5 years, tho only one really had the bloody snot issue. how's that visual grab ya? anyway, the doctor tried a lot of cat medicines; none worked. eventually they got on erithromicin (sp?) and lost their colds. i will doublecheck on what drug they took. but they didn't lose weight like your cat is. hmm, my mom's a catlady. i will consult her.
