Post convex microman and astro mutan
I think these guys are secret base but since it's micro related posting a little something here.
Anybody into these. Saw them last year at SB, but don't really like buying stuff there, I always feel like I'm not quite cool enough.
Anyhoo, anybody got a database. They are all going for pretty cheap prices right now.
Got my first one last nite, but he doesn't stand at all in his little gogo boots. Gonna warm him up and try on his bare feets soon though.

I don't really care for the character design of the faces, but they look quality and I like the vintage series they have been using designs from. I'll bet they look neat in a group and I would love to see a collection shot if anyone has these as well.

Have they or will they do a full set of the Mus? I think I have only seen one.

They look alright with the masks on, but the faces kill them for me. It will be interesting to see what colorways get done, and how they are justified. Presumably he'd need to sell a lot just to pay for the mould, but with an 'animation' version we are already into imagined color variations, with little reference to the originals.

I stuck him in a cup of hot water and got his little wrestler feet on. And tadah, with the reg feet stands up just fine. I really dig the simplistic big head sculpt, it's the astromu head that looks off to me. But i think that's what makes each of us our own collector, and not all wearing khaki uniforms from the gap. With them so cheap on the aftermarket and knowing I can get him to stand up just fine, I'll probably hunt down a few others.

I really like them. The ones at NYCC were clear and had Henshin Cyborg guts in them! I will try to find a pic.

I have a set of the minis from the avatar - there were three figures, they were made of resin and made with really simple fake blister packs stapled to a backing card. Art was by Hiro-grim, sculpting by Betch. I actually have a spare of the Inazuman that I opened up, but it does not stand up with those micro feet. Still, a very cool home made project.

Man that guy can draw, some of his type treatments make my mouth water. There's a little blurb about his resin figs on RFSO, limited to 50 sets.

Here's another thread with more shots and info on the convex dudes.

Thanks JoeMan. I've been meaning to add that thread to here. Does anyone know when the SB/Convex/TakaraTomy Titan Vinyl drops? You can see it in the first pic of that thread.

Post Re: convex microman and astro mutan
on a side note to Bwanas first post, the original Convex Astro-Mutan toys were originally made in China. I think Takara was doing the toy production. I have the all white convex with the hirogrimm robotman.screaming hand teeshirt which was made in china and was cheaper than usual SB fare.

I think at some point SB took over production and the silver headed microman tributes and the astromutan with the multicolored helmet are japanese vinyl. Muton i think has more info on this.

The new clears with the Walder guts are totally badass. I hope to win lotto so I can score more of the convex stuff...

Post Re: convex microman and astro mutan
I love these guys - and thanks to the lucky bag clear out - a bunch of people sold off clear micromen for between 30 and 40 bucks - a steal - beuatiful clear Jp vinyl and great chrome jobs on the heads. The clear M101 thru M104 tribs stand fine - teh Astro Mutan guys have troble due to being top heavy.

The new Henshin Tribute convex guys were on display at NYCC and look so great its mind blowing. I am always stunned by how so many of teh toys we love today are influenced by Henshin Cyborg. I only hope that they release a set of Waldar tribs as wel - those would kill!

Crap photo from NYCC - note Henshin style haircut :)

I saw these on the Artoyz (France) site - is there anywhere else to buy them? Are these the same as the Charactics toys?
