Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
Meh. I dunno...I don't hate them, but they don't do anything for me. First of all, why not 1/6?? Not putting them in-scale with Henshin Cyborg figures (and other 3A toys!) seems like an obvious missed opportunity. But besides that, I'm not really feeling the fabric jumpsuits. Or the uniform stomach plates...or the weird booties...or the lack of true chromed heads...or their too-short haircuts. I *do* like their hands, the hoses connecting the respirators to the stomach plates, the pouches on the belts, and the nice bold colors of the jumpsuits. I might consider getting one if they prove to be super-poseable and durable. If the joints are nice and sturdy, that'll prove a nice upgrade from their smaller vintage counterparts.

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
I'm glad to see these get released after waiting and wondering if it would ever happen.
I don't own any 3A toys so for me this is a great excuse to check them out. I'm hope the direction goes further into the "real type" look that I think 3A is known for. (battle-damage and stressed paint apps, etc.)

I hear ya...but at the same time, I feel that the *iconic* look of Microman is very clean and bright! I dunno...we'll see what they come up with!

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
I hope 3A continues with the style of the 1982 New Microman Series Takara Microman Remodeling Project Series (c.1982-84) http://www.microforever.com/remodelingproject.htm *scroll down for Matt Doughty's Remodeling Project MICROSHOW (VOL.1) pictures.

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
I totally agree. The "Real Type" aesthetic pioneered by the Remodeling Project is such an amazingly under-credited fundamental shift in Japan's hard scifi design movement. It influenced SO much...including the paint style used in most 3A toys I've seen. And, yeah, I've sat up many a late night with Matt Doughty, listening to him wax poetic about the Remodeling Project, Spiral Zone, MaK and plenty of other such early hard scifi properties!

And those pictures from your Labor Day custom toy! post are amazing! Speaking of "remodeling" here is a link to some mashup Microman I did in 2008 with some Stikfas, Gundam and Stormtroopers mixed in http://www.flickr.com/photos/motorrazor/2495536067/

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
Thanks, man! Yeah, I'm really excited about making something kinda-sorta new to enhance Microman figures. They're pretty legit, too...if I do say so myself! I'll be showing off the latest of these "Powered Bio Suits" at our 3D printing class at Monster Kolor Studios this weekend. Anyway, I love that mashup you did! The Stikfa dudes fit in surprisingly well. And what are those guys in the back with the big blue Micro Hood Man-style helmets??

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
I'm an old school Microman/Micronaut & Henshin cyborg fan. But I do dig 3A's stuff too, so this makes for an interesting combo. Yes it's a departure from the old, but the artist in me likes the creativity and change of pace. Yes I prefer clear over suits, but at least they're coming out with one clear variant, Julian. I read it was only going to be available via Asian retail. Well, just so happens HLJ just put them all up for preorder including the clear. Check it out http://www.hlj.com/product/THA44429/Act

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
I wouldn't be surprised if it got pushed back. :/
I'm not expert on 3A stuff (the clear Julian will be my first 3A toy!), but everyone on the Microman fb group seems to think it'll likely be delayed given the company's history...

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
Yep... keeps getting pushed back. Saw them at the conventions and they look nice. It's a good take on our micro buddies.

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
oh cool thanks for the replies....... i am not familiar enough with 3A stuff and have no idea with the crossover of collectors of their products vs. Micronauts/Microman fans if these will be hard to find so i don't want to miss the release.
they do look great!

Re: Ashley Wood & ThreeA & Microman?
So I now have two of the 3A Micromen...One of them is the kind with the jumpsuit, and the other is the clear one. All in all they are pretty satisfying, but they seem to pop apart fairly easily. This isn't a problem because they just pop back together. The issue I have is the singularity of the release. I understand using the tooling multiple times and releasing multiple colors (heck the original line did plenty of this), but there has been little to no mention lately of any subsequent releases.
I also picked up the good smile light up strap on microman... He is pretty cool and looks good standing next the 3A guys.... as a matter of fact, scale wise, he fits in nicely between original micromen and the 3A.
