Post Fair Market Price of Getter 3
I'm seeking some comments and advice on this getter 3. It does not come with box but in good condition. Missile are in place and the plastic didn't turn yellow.

I can't really give too much advice on prices, as prices have been fluctuating and everyone has their own breaking limit. Personally, I think prices are out of control right now for jumbos all together, and I've been told some collectors with deep pockets have recently entered the market and driven up prices on "rare" items. I say "rare," because I think I've seen more Getta 3 jumbos turn up in the last 6 months than Getta 1 or 2. It seems to me the higher price tag on this particular jumbo was determined during a time not as many were floating around outside of private collections. Sellers definitely take advantage of that.

Regardless, it's a nice jumbo, and though I don't think it is as rare as some would like us to believe, it's hard to find any jumbo in that good of condition.

I will say this in regards to prices; in the past six months I've seen a boxed Getta 3 sell for significantly less than a recent sale of a loose model on RJ:

http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/166132654

The overall condition of the decals may not be as nice, but when it is much easier, cheaper, and even accepted throughout the general community of collectors to replicate decals for the best display quality, I'd still put it ahead of any loose model. People have been known to sell reproduction boxes for up to $200.00. In a few instances, original boxes for particular jumbos have fetched for more than some jumbos themselves, so that should give you an idea of how much some collectors value boxes. Anyway, using the model in the link above as an example, I would say given the condition the price was not great, especially if it went to an international bidder and you take into consideration broker fees. Even though it was complete, the decals have probably seen better days. It wasn't the worst price, but not a bargain by any means based on past sales. Hopefully this should help on determining what you might consider to be a fair price on your loose specimen.

Try to remember, many jumbos are not as rare as some sellers would like you to believe. I can probably count on my hands the number of jumbos that are truly hard to come by. If you're patient, another will most likely turn up, and at a much better price.

I know I have put my question at the right place. The valuable advice and comment from HBCoffin really helps a lot. Now I knotw where I'm am when I'm looking at the price offered in my local website.

http://hk.f1.page.auctions.yahoo.com/hk/auction/b24893463?actsrch=srp3

Your comments and price reference did help me to position the offering price. The item found in my local site is around 420000 yen which is on the unreasonably high side. It is over priced since the getter 3 even don't have the box

Thanks again

Yikes. Yeah, I just want to reiterate that while many Jumbos are somewhat rare, they're hardly impossible to find with patience. Remember, these big price tags come more from high demand rather than extreme rarity.

More will turn up...many with condition-to-price ratios that you will be a lot more comfortable with...

Patience is the key.
