Thank YOU for continuing to bring the Good Stuff, David! :D

I've really enjoyed how much more accessible your work has become (ex: myplasticheart, toylife). As I know MANY of us have. It's wonderful for us fans located in areas where are only option is purchasing online.

I also really dig your current choice of diversity in styles among each selling location, which I'm sure is hard to do; making various works as well as keeping up with the flow of growing demand.

so Congratulations on your many "Items Out of Stock" ;)

"Healeymade x mph – NKOTB : 420 (4.20)"
(via VINYL PULSE - http://www.vinylpulse.com)

Image

"To celebrate 4.20 which is all about breathing in the ‘green’, myplasticheart will release Healeymade’s very pink NKOTB : 420 figure. Hmmm ? The 2” resin figure is based largely on a arch-shaped M.U.S.C.L.E. figure from the mid-80’s as well as another un-named 80’s toy (the head). NKOTB ? Awful 80’s boy band… Maybe this would make more sense if I wasn’t sober. At any rate, the toy features David Healey’s top-flight clear resin work and is a fun homage to an 80’s cult toy. Grab the mph exclusive on you guessed it April 20th at yes… 4:20 PM EDT over at myplasticheart.com for $19.99 while quantities last."

I'm sooo excited about this release! Can anyone guess who this figure is?!

Love the enthusiasm but it says who it is in the description. Plenty of M.U.S.C.L.E. fans around here.

I know there will be some painted figs down the line. Healey's paint style is pretty unique. I'll post some painted customs he did when I get home.

Nope... That's not even a guess. You're just repeating the post.

Ha, wouldn't have posted it if it were that easy.

Think, Daimyo...

There's a BIG hint in the store it's being sold in.

It's ____________ impersonating a M.U.S.C.L.E.

Those familiar with the character will probably get it much easier though.

just curious. do those of you who buy this stuff also collect cheap blow mold bootlegs sold at dollar tree outlets across the world, or are you in it for the "art" appeal? :P

its a 2-edged sword for me. i LOVE bootlegging, but it bugs me that some guy can mash up various toys and have a following, while i see other bootlegs sitting around without buyer bites...

Yes, if I like the sculpt, I'll buy it.

cool (and i kind of expected that out of you, ls. and that's a compliment. )
and sorry to beat the same dead horse....actually, no, i'm not sorry about that. i like beating the same dead horse. never a new corpse. i resurrect the same carcass, beat the shit out of it with a stick, bury it, only to dig it up again. i'm not a fan of multiple dead horses. my grandma's horse died when i was 7, and i was devastated.
ANYWAYS, i just forever will be confused with toy guideline awesomeness. healey made resins and chap mei bootlegs/knockoffs are the same to me. except chap mei is a bit better, being NOT resin, which gives it playability.

which brings me to my next question. whats with all the m.u.s.c.l.e. inspired resin? why hasn't anyone looked into some old-school rubber made releases? or blow mold bootlegging outside of dollar tree? i'd love to see a blow-molded plastic gargamess some day....

No doubt.

I know quite a few guys (including myself) who are putting out both bootleg and original kinkeshi/MUSCLE type rubber figures.

Most of my stuff is 50% original sculpt + 50% bootleg/kitbash. I have done like 15 different figures, but do not sell anything at this point. I do my figures just for fun, and use them as giveaways on my blog.

Not to hijack the thread, but here is a quick pick of my latest dude, The Meatgrinder.

Image

Cast in flexible Poly PT Flex Rubber, about 1" tall...

I really dig David’s stuff; I see it as Pop art. I think this quote says it best:

"Pop art is aimed to employ images of popular as opposed to elitist culture in art, emphasizing the banal or kitschy elements of any given culture, most often through the use of irony. It is also associated with the artists' use of mechanical means of reproduction or rendering techniques."

You will be hard pressed to find nicer looking resin. David's rendering is top notch.
