Post Mirrormen (motu bootlegs)
Been a while since I posted anything.
Mirrormen: Merman bootlegs in glitter for a nod to the speclatron toys, and a few other friends.

Very cool! Do the arms move?I always thought the MOTU ball joint would work to make a articulated resin figure but I have never tried it.

i'm pretty sure the glitter is from the inside, mixed with the resin when liquid. if you look at the curves on the thighs for instance, they would be irregularly smooth if the glitter were on the outside.

good to see more stuff from you audio. creative work makes one less cynical
i'm digging these glitter mermen too. any plans to do any paint apps to these guys? it could work out nicely with the fur-undies and head-type hair.

Uber is right.
The mirrormen are as is from the molds. All the casting glitter and pigments are in the resin.

I had debated painting some up but really liked the mirrormen with their arms only accenting the full glitter body. In the future I'll probably use the glitter base on a different figure for some paint applications, it would be fun to leave the center of the chest open and a dark flat paint around the glitter.

The arms move, but are kind of stiff on the mirrormen with the mold starting to wear and the massive amount of casting glitter in the body. In the past though I've found those joints to work really well for articulation on the bootleg mashups.

Yeah, these are straight up bootlegs right from the original figures, just mashed up pieces. The hemen ironfist is actually a mashup of pieces and original castings I did though.
The only reason to do any of the stuff is for the fun factor I think. I love having crazy glow motu lighting up my place.

Post Re: Mirrormen (motu bootlegs)
These is an old thread to find at the top, thanks for the interest.

The few mirrormen I made sold out pretty much before I had finished casting them (minus the pearl blue armed twin I saved for myself).

There is a merman/stinkor still at TAG (http://shop.toyartgallery.com/) I believe, and then the final simulations of the heman/merman lot I did for Rivet (http://rivetart.com).

I'll have some new Organicos soon, and around the same time will have a new MOTU bootleg that I'm planning to do some fun stuff with. I really want to revisit the speclatron figures again, and after seeing the sick strike force figures I may have to do a mash up similar to those. I also am doing a project for an artist I really like that I'll have my own casts for sometime in February that I'm really excited about.

I'm always open to suggestions or requests though so feel free to visit my flickr or blog (that I'm really bad about updating) or drop me an email.

Hi Roger. I don't collect star wars so I'll never be making something like that. I do wish I could've accepted the invitation to be in the clutter show but family issues prevented me from participating.
But I know you are just trolling.
:)

Brandon's work is awesome. I'm a fan and a friend.
However, GJM,B!'s work predates all of our stuff and essentially created the concept of the genre that we currently work in. I would imagine that Brandon would tell you pretty much the same thing.

But yeah, GJM,B!, do something interesting. Seriously!
