Lunatic Cop

Mon Aug 13, 2012 8:36 am

I found these 12 inch cop figures at the dollar store.I saw potential in them so i bought a few and popped the heads n hands off and sculpted new pieces. The concept is a cheap unlicensed toy based on that terrible movie Maniac Cop.

He needed a weapon so a nightstick with nails in it would do the job.

Love the idea, love the execution - nice job!

Love that movie, too...

Have any snaps of the original in the package? It's be fun to see where the project began.

Haha, 12" decked out cop action figures? What the hell. I need to go to my dollar stores more often. And check out that movie, evidently!

It's obviously nothing like it, but I was immediately reminded me of this Hasbro line from years ago, Cops n Crooks.

The dollar store can be a great place to find art supplies. This was the original figure.

I started thinking about other figs I could make with these guys and went back to get more. I wound up buying the rest, maybe like 20. The people at the store looked at me like I was a big weirdo.

Oh and I loooved the C.O.P.S. figures.maybe I should figure out how to make a big obnoxious cap gun for these guys.

Very cool work on both these guys. Now if only they were available in toy stores as they are now, I know I'd be buying them! :D

Re: Lunatic Cop

Thu Nov 01, 2012 8:05 pm

Yeah. I'm gonna do a run of these two characters and others coming down the pike. Pike? Pipe?
Pipe makes more sense. What the hell is a pike?

Each one of these are making me want one more and more. Your accompanying drawings just adds to the want factor. Love the little chain-saw hand attachment on Bluuddawg.
So when can I have the pleasure of fighting for one of these Lunatics?

Just found this thread and while I'm generally not a huge fan of the whole take-existing-figure-pop-off-head-and-replace-with-your-own action, you've done a really sweet job with ALL of these dudes! What a score finding such an awesome generic figure to work off of and the resin parts you've added are great! Like the custom paint jobs too.

I'm gonna try to snag me that Viper Dog come payday... great work, man!
