Rivet Wars Figures
I've been collecting Japanese Robot toys for a long time now but last year decided to try making my own stuff. It has a WWI feel but with some variation in tech. I've made a few resin pieces so far and just got some new prints. I think there's a bit of influence from Dougram and some of Miyazaki's work in Hobby Japan and Nausicaa but also just real world tanks and stuff that almost got made. I'm working on getting this out in a new format soon and thought some of you guys might find it interesting. Thanks for looking. -Ted http://www.rivetwars.com/?p=459

I'm not really in to it but I like these a lot, I can definitely see the influence in it I did actually instantly think ghibli.

@Bansheebot - Thanks for feedback even though it's not your type of thing. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. And for the info on where to post. Sorry about that.
@Leucotomy - Thanks man.

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
I could see painting these up, getting some simple skirmish rules and making a fun wargame out of these. They're really cartoony so they would make great enemies for all those Spug and Quar miniatures I bought and never did anything with.

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
that scale is insane! 1st one reminds me of early pulp era covers with HG Wells War of the Worlds Martian mecha
it would be an expensive process but these would be neat to see made out of metal- thinking copper or bronze, a patina could develope & grow over time
the others remind me of some microman action figure by Takara of Japan that were known as Uniquer Force
were these an influence on you?

They also remind me of the GameBoy Advance Wars series. I've probably sunk the most time in those games than any other!!

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
Thanks guys. It's hard to say what has influenced the design and what hasn't. Some of the bosses in Metal Slug are awesome for sure and I also played way too much Advanced Wars. I'm sure all of those things are part of the DNA that makes up Rivet Wars. Most of it though is looking at real world stuff, like WWI and WWII tanks. Some of the stuff they tried to make during the World Wars was crazy. I did find this old footage of the walker that I designed for Rivet Wars. http://youtu.be/ODtpeEFqSkM

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
I have a couple of the 1st gen tanks and they are pretty cool. highly detailed, cast in resin. If you like mech, these are perfect for your desktop battles.

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
Toybot, that's awesome! I have some pretty awesome news. Super Robot Punch and Cool Mini or Not have teamed up to make a Rivet Wars board game! For more than a year I have been working on the rules, sculpts, art, tiles and other components for the game. Sorry I haven't been able to post more but we couldn't while it was still such a work in progress. I'll be posting lots more stuff in the next weeks as we gear up for a kickstarter. I'm really excited that now anyone who wants a rivetwars grunt or tanks will be able to own an entire army. Actually two armies a blight and allies. http://www.rivetwars.com/?p=510Here's a part from the box cover.

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
the boardgame looks like a promising idea. I would totally paint some of those up to go with my old tyranids, hahaha.

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
I keep coming back to this thread (and coming back)... And I gotta say I like these.
Would I collect them? I don't know yet. But these clearly have a lot of thought and some hard work has gone into these.
I agree with Toybot, these would easily make nice desk top play toys. I especially like that he didn't just get a wild hair up his ass and start creating toys just to do so like many that post here. Great that there's a back story and a cohesive theme.
Good luck with the project

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
Thanks guys. That's cool to hear. So I wanted to post that we've started the kickstarter for the board game and it's going well so far. We're actually heading toward some stretch goals already. Take a look and I hope you'll want to support it and maybe even spread the word. If we can raise enough then we can make more soldiers http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/rivet-wars

I did a mockup for the aircraft. I think this'll look pretty neat with all the figures set up. http://www.coolminiornot.com/images/kic ... ckup_b.jpg

Re: Rivet Wars Figures
I really like your work. It fills me with Nastalgia and transports me to my early teens sitting in the basement playing some beautiful lush Japanese RPG. Your design feels right at home in that universe. I would be interested in individual figures and vinyl if you ever went that route. I don't really do the whole games thing, but who cares, you chose the right direction. Congrats on a half million in kick starter sales, wow.
