¡Viva Occult! Resin Toys
So I've been trying to get my stuff together and do this right finally. This was my first attempt. I think I'll call him the Instigator. He stands about 3" tall. OG Sculpt Part one of a two part mold First test pull (TONS OF BUBBLES, ooooooof) Latest pull, had a few before this one. I'm using Smooth-On OoMoO 30 for the silicon. It says no degassing necessary so I didn't, I was too impatient waiting for my desiccator from Grainger to arrive. Wish I would have waited it out, now I'm afraid if I use my pressure pot my molds will get super distorted. Also I used Smooth-On 325, which I'm not a fan of, too short of a pot life so I've had some mishaps there as well. Next time around I'm gonna degas my molds and pick up some Smooth-On 326. Thanks to everyone that's helped me get this far, it's been pretty damn fun.

What do you use for the clear resin? Looks good.

Re: Cop A Squat Toys Resin
I used some crap I found at Michaels, it's called Castin' Craft Clear Casting Resin, was kinda pricey for the tiny amount you get but it's SUPER clear even without a pressure pot. Downsides are if not mixed EXACTLY right it seems to stay tacky for a long time if not forever it seems, and it has a 24 hour cure time, which is PAINFUL!

Re: Cop A Squat Toys Resin
nice pulls.
Im doing a four-legged critter right now and just the mold process has taken a few trials to get right and a one piece.
Im using, moldmax 30, you need a digital scale, but the molds are pretty good with minimal problems if any.
Resin is by far one of my fav. mediums, too bad its pricey and quite toxic. hahaha.
Im looking forward to see more, man. Great work.

Re: Cop A Squat Toys Resin
This may sound crazy but years ago when I started originally doing SEISMIC ACE in my garage I set up a small metal tray with a sander attached to it underneath. I'd place my molds on it then turn it on and it would vibrate like crazy and all the bubbles would get vibrated to the surface. I called it my "vibration bench". Later I bought an actual little bench and attached two sanders to it. Worked great. Never needed a pressure pot, never had bubbles. Then the garage flooded and the roof caved in.

I do the same thing, but I have one of those "Fat Removing" devices that people put on their bellies to vibrate the fat away. Works wonders and it only cost me like 3 bucks on a garage sale out here.

Re: Cop A Squat Toys Resin
Here's a WIP sculpt up next for casting once I get all the little details finished. Equipped with a baby doll blinking eye and clear vinyl parts.

Re: Cop A Squat Toys Resin
Don't really have a name or anything for this guy yet but I'm still working on casting them. It's clear resin but I've sprayed this one with a clear green. Front with blinking eye and vinyl tubing for the ray gun left hand and a cobra skull for a right hand. (I sculpted this long before I heard of Utsugiyo) back view Also made an alternate head and a couple tanks A closer view of the back of the alt head with the vinyl tubing and tinsel. I dropped it right before I took the pics and the paint got chipped.

Re: ¡Viva Occult! Resin Toys
Love this little NapNapNap. So funny, hype-less, and way more affordable. Persistence pays off I guess. Got one of the red ones after they had all sold out. Just kept refreshing over and over until it popped up.

Re: ¡Viva Occult! Resin Toys
Finished up this guy last night. Looks like I might be doing a run of these as well. Glear and GID resin with clear red and blue sprays. A hand-painted circulatory system insert between the two colored resins. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.
