believe it or not, and I don't want to get crucified for saying this, but I think it was BETTER than the original. Alexandre Aja did a fantastic job with updating this. and it was so beautifully violent and brutal as shit.

i was REALLY doubtful about this but i think i will definitely see it. I saw a short on how Wes Craven worked with the new director and you could tell they were very respectful of each other and that Craven REALLY liked his ideas.

now i need a date to see it :D

Totally agree, I liked it a lot!

I wish he had done the TCM remake.

I can't decided whether or not to see this.

High Tension blew and that kinda put me off on his films. I do have a free movie ticket though...

Better or worse than The Devil's Rejects -- which I loved...

well, we disagree that High Tension blew, so that might not be the best starting point for a comparison. why did you not like that?

as far as being better or worse that the Devil's Rejects, it's actually kind of similar. this is definitely a horror movie, where DR isn't really, but they have similar feels/tones. DR is actually probably a little more "rough" at times if you know what I mean. but I think both directors were working off that old 70s horror sleazy vibe (Last House on the Left, TCM, etc).

the plot/script oh THHE was very faithful to the original, and the parts they changed I think actually made more sense and helped it flow better.

I liked Haute Tension a lot for the most part, it kind of lost a bit of love from me at the end, but I still thought it was good. I really didn't like The Devils Rejects very much at all though and I didn't even think it was that rough at all aside from that one scene in the motel, where as the Hills have eyes remake had some really rough and nasty shit in it, it just felt like Rob Zombie was trying to hard to pull off this 70's vibe and it wasn't working for me, Hills have eyes remake seemed more legit.

well Devil's Rejects had some really nasty language and stuff though. wasn't there some part where he put the barrel of a gun down that ladies pants and then smelled it or something? I saw it the day it came out and haven't since and only remember bits and pieces, but I thought for a Hollywood movie made at this time it was pretty nasty.

all i have to say is full frontal shotgun to the head. I dug the shit out of it.

I was raised as a child on exactly this cup of tea although, so if you dont like gore exploitation, then i would suggest a pass.

Well...High Tension started off good -- that whole scene with the scuzzy guy "getting head" from the headless...um, head was great! After that it sorta degenerated with the cliche "she's crazy...it's her!" ending. The dude was nasty and creepy -- would have been more interesting keeping with that rather than chick off of her meds. While I can't say that it was implausable...it was pretty close to that.

As for DR -- the woman in the flick who had the gun down her panties was none other than Nurse Terry from Three's Company! Man...seeing her in the film was great -- she looked good for an older lady.

For me, I look at films like DR as a great throwback to the old grindhouse flicks. Same goes for Wrong Turn -- films that had a bit of a brain and some good tense moments along with tasty gore. I think I was just expecing more from High Tension -- especially with all of the press it got.

you probably also saw it dubbed, right?

I think the whole throwback to grindhouse thing is very in right now. I'm into it, but they still can't pull off what they used to.

if you liked Wrong Turn, which seems to be the biggest sleeper hit ever (I hear people talking about it ALL THE TIME lately and I never knew it was so well received), you'll like The Hills Have Eyes.
