Post Visiting SF
I will be traveling to SF next week on business and will have a few hours free and, of course, I want to visit the toynerd Mecca of Super7 while I am there. I will be staying in the Cow Hollow area---is S7 walking distance from there, or should I plan on taking a cab?

Also, any watering-hole recommendations in that general area? Micro-breweries, wine bars, etc?

Thanks,
Scott

Not really walking distance at all. IIRC the main drag through Cow Hollow is Lombard Street, so the famous "crooked" part is probably walking distance from where you'll be. It's fun to see at least once. Cow Hollow (gotta love that name) is adjacent to the Marina and Presidio areas. Super7 is closer to the center of the city, in a small area called Japantown (J-town to locals) aka "Little Osaka."

You might enjoy walking to see the Palace of Fine Arts, the only remnant of the 1915 Pan-Pacific world's fair. It's a beautiful place to have a picnic lunch or just walk around ... the Golden Gate Bridge is walking distance from there.

If you'll need some help with public transportation for getting to Super7, there are several of us here who can help. It's pretty easy.

I don't know if a visit to Heroes Club on Clement Street would interest you but if you have time, it might be worthwhile. It's a bit more remote but easy to get to from Super7 on MUNI. They have lots of Japanese toys that aren't the kind of kaiju discussed here, although there are lots of Ultraman, Godzilla, and Kamen Rider toys there, as well as a killer Bruce Lee doll collection and lots of cool Japanese blind box toys.

The watering holes that I know if in the Marina are pretty much the power-yuppie scene. Kinda obnoxious really. There's a new wine bar in the Mission called Bar Bambino that people really like. It's a block from Mission and 16th BART. I don't go out for drinks much anymore so others could probably be more helpful with that.

Thanks, xoconostle!

The yahoo map said it was only about a mile and a half away, but I forgot that it is uphill both ways in SF...

Thanks for the info!

I just can't believe that there would be poor service at Dennys! Usually the staff is ever-so-friendly and enthusiastic!!

It looks like my best opportunity to get to the store is on Sunday, around 4:30 or 5pm...I have a couple of "unscheduled" hours then and on Monday, around the same time...I'd love to meet some of you fellow skullbrainers!
