I scanned the article.

Personally, I would have enjoyed seeing the actual newsletters rather than translations from a reporter, but not much surprises me these days.

Anyone who isn't a southern baptist born again christian better hope huckabee doesn't get into office.

wow, that was an interesting article. I really think that the states needs a president that is a little out there and at first I thought Ron Paul may have fit that bill (but never won) with his wacky libertarian ideas. I had no idea though that he was this wack though. Whether or not he wrote all that garbage, I can't buy into the idea he had know knowledge of it. If my name was on a newsletter, I wouldn't publish anything that I didn't endorse.

I don't know that libertarian ideas are that whacky, but I will agree that Ron Paul is.

Yeah, not a lot of libertarians even like the guy that much. Most I know think he's nuts too.

I really like his anti-war, anti-imperialist message, and who doesn't want to get rid of the IRS, but he does have some ultra-right wing skeletons in his closet.

Ugh. No kidding! This guy scares me. I H8 Huckabee!
I'm thinking of registering as a Republican so I can vote in the primary for anyone other than Huckabee in the infinitely small hope that it will help divert the Repub. nominee to someone else...anyone else.

Someone's trying to smear Ron Paul on the day of the NH Primary. No way.

Ron Paul should be the kind of candidate that I would support, but all of the people I've seen carrying signs for him in my town have been white supremacists.

(Someone's out there saying that that "Huckabee" is how you pronounce "Harkavy" south of the Mason-Dixon line. Don't believe it.)

What makes you think so? He's definitely got a libertarian bent to him, in fact he ran as a Libertarian presidential candidate back in the 80s, and I've voted for them in the past (not in the 80s, of course).

The story's getting new legs. Now NPR is covering it:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... t=1&f=1001

I'm sure it's going to sway all of the Republicans who listen to NPR. (snicker)

You guys shouldn't buy into such ideological slant. Any critical reading and a little research will show that these arguments have been proven false and were only brought up on the eve of the NH primary.

The writer of this article is obviously a neo-con and if you read his other writings you can tell how overtly ideological he is. He's in service of the status quo.

Check out this e-mail he wrote in response to the criticism of his above propositions. This implies his willingness to exploit inconsistences for political motives. Yeh, i trust him.

Jamie Kirchick (author of the New Republic story):

"I don’t think Ron Paul is a homophobe; I’m just cynical and enjoy getting supporters of political candidates riled up. If you were a Giuliani guy I’d have called him a fascist."
