So that's what everyone was talking about....
When I finally joined SB this past July, after nearly a year of lurking.......many members alluded to any previous history I might have had on the KR board.
Matt Alt from ToyboxDX actually pointed me to SB, so I'd never even heard of KR....and just let the blind KR insinuations fade initially. During those first few months as a new member, people seemed to grouse endlessly in different threads, under their prosaic breath, that new members were a part of inevitable change, and that change was not good.
So as a registered Fresh Meat even today, I have to say that in the past month or so, it feels like there has been a bit of a surge in really immature acting & sounding new members. Posts seem to be rude or offensive and signatures or avatars are deliberately used to elicit "shock" replies. This is really disappointing, as it feels like there is a greatly valued community vibe that is slowly being polluted.
If this is what older members were worried I might be bringing to the board when I joined....I get it now.
Having a 20 year affinity for Japanese culture and anime, I am here for the toys...to learn, to contribute, and perhaps to make a new friend or two.
Thanks for letting me participate around here. Even more so, thanks for letting me have a place to treat my RxH addiction.

Hear, hear! I've been a long time Japanese culture/Kaiju movie fanatic for decades. I, too, was concerned about the treatment I might receive as a Fresh Meat to this board. This concern was based on treatment I had seen others receive while I was lurking and trying to get a feel for the board. Now that I've had time to acclimate myself to SB, I realize that members feel just as passionately about this environment as they do their toys. After all, what fun would our toys be without like-minded others to share them with? I can see how childish activity could lead to such a backlash. People don't like their passions threatened. I've just turned the ripe old age of 30, and have been a serious toy collector for many, many of those years. The last thing I want is immaturity and bickering among my new peers. I'm just too old for that now. That being said, 99.9% of SB members seem to be fantastic people, and without listing names because the list would be far too long, many of you have been extraordinarily helpful to me in my new collecting endeavor. I have been made to feel very welcomed. You know who you are. Thanks again.

Most of the first people to join this board (myself included) came from KR, even Isaac and Cesar were on there before this board, mostly to stir shit up, but nonetheless.
The KR thing gets thrown around a lot as an instant strike against you, but I'm sure there are douchebags on this board who were never on KR, and that there are a lot of members from KR who are great here.
The thing when this board was started was that most people were coming at it the same way, ground rules were established and expected to be followed and it was just tighter knit because everyone had a certain level of respect for each other and the creator of the board. Then when it started to get bigger people would come on and not give a fuck about the rules and take it really personally when they would get called out for it. I think degeneration of anything is pretty much inevitable when it gets bigger, this board certainly isn't the same as when it started, but it is what it is and as long as people come on with a bit of respect and people do call out the assholes when they're being assholes it will be fine.
