SB Accountants! Need help-I live in NJ, Work in PA
Do I file taxes in both places? I've never worked across state lines before!
I did live in PA for part of the year, and moved to NJ in the middle---I've worked in PA all along.
Do i need to file twice?

I don't know for sure, but if you're using something like TurboTax Online it makes it very simple to figure out by just asking you a few simple questions. I recommend giving it a try - you can go through the entire process (short of filing, of course) without having to pay.

i think typically you would have to file in both states, and you will get a credit in the state where you live
but i read something about NJ working a little differently ... like you may not have to worry with it since your income is PA
but yes, turbotax is so easy i would recommend that too

I come to philly every day for 8 hours, so my risk of getting shot in the face is still 33% higher than most
