There is an interview with the director in GR (not sure if it's the current issue or not).

Machine Girl played here about a week or so ago and I missed it. I'm thinking it would have been cool to see with a BIG group of people (drinking). 8)

Movies like this and Meatball Machine are exactly the kind of thing I was trying to make in college, so watching stuff like this gives me hope for a future where movies are awesome.
