that's about the length of my list of celebrity encounters. btw, Henry Rollins spoken word kicks so much ass!!!! The only other spoken word i'd like to hear is from Mojo Nixon. I hear he has a AM station show in California. All you californiaites, have you heard it?

Haven't heard Mojo Nixon, but Rollins does put a lot of energy into his shows. When I saw him, not only did he speak for a staggering 4 hours, but he yelled at us (me+3 friends) for about 20 minutes after the show. And then he got all huffy because he thought we were following him- turns out he was parked next to us in the garage. Friggin' meathead.

Just got back from the Woodstock Film Festival and had some brief celebrity encounters.

Firstly, my friend's film (Prince of Broadway) won Best Narrative Feature, and the award was presented by Mary Stuart Masterson. I didn't realize who she was until after we took pictures with her. I think there's a shot of me with my arm around her.

Afterwards I was milling around at the edge of the stage while the directors took group shots, and this tall blonde woman came up and started talking to me. She looked really familiar, and introduced herself as "Jen" I figured out that she was Kevin Smith's wife. I guess I didn't think she was that tall in real life.

Anyway, as more people started jumping up on the stage we started moving closer to the edge, and she leaned back into the curtain, thinking there was a wall behind it when there wasn't. She started falling, and I managed to grab her arm and help her regain her balance. She was simultaneously very grateful and apologetic (she spilled her drink all over me).

Kevin came to collect her after the photo shoot, mumbling something about retreating to the hotel to play video games. She didn't get to introduce me but as she walked away, she thanked me for "saving her life."

Also saw Morgan Spurlock, that dude is really tall.

My friend also tried talking to Ang Lee during the photo shoot and was totally blown off. Dick.

Rollins name checks Yukio Mishima in that essay.

Spectactular death there, seppuku followed by a botched finish by his Kaishakunin in the Tokyo headquarters of the Eastern Command of Japan's Self-Defense Forces in 1970 after a failed coup to restore Imperial power.

Stranger than fiction, had no idea Rollins was a Mishima fan.

i love reading about mishima. probably hated whitey's like me but dude was crazy.

I wore my Usugrow Secret Base shirt to the Rollins show last Saturday and it caught the eye of the merch guy. Turns out he's a fellow Skullbrainer but says he didn't post very often. We had a nice chat and he said he's already met a few board members on tour already. Unfortunately I forgot his name but if you catch the show, stop by and say hello.
