Post Lights VS GID toys
i remember reading about how certain lights will ruin the glow in a toy. is this correct? if so i was wondering if anyone could tell me which lights would do this. i keep my toys out of direct sunlight, but i do have lights in my cases (the LED "dioders" i believe theyr called from ikea) anyone know if these will diminish the glow life of my toys? i dont even light the cases all the time, just when im in the mood  but im getting paranoid. (i tried to find old posts on this but didnt get much)

Don't worry, I think it's going to be okay.

I remember reading about this a while back. I think it had something to do with the type of bulb. There was a web site that had the info too. I wish I could remember.

i moved my stuff into my bedroom and it is almost never dark in there during the day, because the sun hits the blinds pretty good.
will reflected sunlight off of blinds and the walls ruin a gid toy?

I'd say yes as the light which then illuminates the toys are reflected rays of sunlight, and since sunlight has UV rays, and its sunlight which is allowing your toys to be viewed by your retenas, they are most likely absorbing these UV rays and diminishing the stability of yóur precious vinyl, best bet is to drape the toys with a material which will not allow light to penetrate or illuminate your vinyl.

This discussion can go on forever. Most of us do not live in an optimal environment for displaying our toys. Smells, UV light, heat, humidity, chemical changes in other toys' materials- all of these will probably affect the vinyl adversely over time.

Realistically, you need to balance the enjoyment of the toys now against preserving them for the next 30 years. Look at the Bullmarks and Marusans from the 70s- I'm sure most of those were not kept under great storage conditions and they still do pretty well on the auction block. For my part, if the toys are not getting blasted by sunlight or direct fluorescent light, fine. Precautions are good, but don't obsess.

I'm sure there are folks that disagree. In that case, you probably should not buy my toys. ;P
