 Question for GID collectors
Do the glow in the dark vinyls start to lose their glow ability and/or intensity over time? I kind of envision something like a longer life glow stick.

 Re: Question for GID collectors
There are a few threads about this I think.
The answer is yes, if not stored or displayed out of direct UV light.

 Re: Question for GID collectors
It depends on the quality of materials used. I have vinyls that I bought five years ago that seem to be glowing less brightly now, and I have toys from my childhood that still glow even brighter than those do.

 Re: Question for GID collectors
Thanks for the replies. I did just find an older thread on the subject... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22126&hilit=+glow+in+the+darkI just hope Marusan uses quality materials. The glow version of the toy I just purchased doesn't look as nice as the non-glow versions. If the glow factor is no longer a factor, then that would suck.

 Re: Question for GID collectors
Most Japanese vinyls you get are going to be made with high quality materials. The glow M1GO and Marusan toys I have are good ones.

 Re: Question for GID collectors
I'll second that. I don't know what they use for Western "glow" material, but it can't hold a candle (pun intended) to JP vinyl for intensity. I've got a cabinet full of them, and it's pretty intense when the lights are out.

 Re: Question for GID collectors
Based on what I've been told, Chinese manufacturers sometimes use lower-quality recycled vinyl in their products, as opposed to the "virgin" material Japanese outfits use. Using this makes it harder to achieve effects like translucence and the pigmentation already in the recycled material sometimes interferes with the effects of the glow pigments.
Whatever Onell Design's factory is doing, though, they've got it down. Those little Crayboth glow like they're radioactive.

 Re: Question for GID collectors
Before the move... Sorry for the crappy pic but a touch of black light is always nice. I have had no problems over the years. I love my glows too

 Re: Question for GID collectors
WOW! Great photo. Why do some seem to glow red? What color are those in the light (and don't say red )?

 Re: Question for GID collectors
There are also red glowies, like Onell Design's stuff. They don't glow as long as the standard glowies, but damn are they bright.
