Post Criminalising Organic Farming‏
Here is an email I recieved from my friend, J.

See this article about the U.S. "Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009":

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php? ... &aid=13025

Scroll down past the first few paragraphs, which list the various bills being introduced into Congress. This legislation is being pushed by Monsanto and the other big bio-tech companies and agri-corporations and will effectively kill organic farming and small mum-and-dad farming businesses in America if it's made into law. Big agri-business wants this kind of system in place worldwide, and what goes down in America will inevitably go down here.

Or let this hot blonde chick give you the lowdown!

More here: http://nourishedkitchen.com/fight-hr-87 ... t-of-2009/

Research the bill and its implications on Google.

J.

What a load of BS.

I know there's a big issue around food pricing/inflation that inevitably means more GM crops beign used to provide staple items but to go to this extreme is crap. Nice to see Obama's in the thrall of big corps as much as anyone else....no hope it seems.

This is a fucking outrage. How about posing sanctions on how big these corporations are allowed to get thus losing their influential power on government. I'm so sick of corporations getting their way based on buying Washington. People should be rioting in the streets over this.

Talked to my sister about some of this stuff. My brother in law and my sister run an organic farm and creamery, and have long been involved with different local farmers markets, food co-ops. Here is what she had to say in an email to me:

yes, we've been hearing a lot of chatter about this lately. actually there are 8 variations of the "food safety" bill pending in congress but they are all equally overbearing and will do little more than make small and medium size farms (and possibly individual gardeners) obsolete if passed.

it's really disturbing stuff and i hope common sense will prevail, but if it doesn't, it's up to the average folks who still want the opportunity to buy local and organics foods to let their voices be heard in Washington. Otherwise the food production in this country will be left to a few large corporate farms and that's just insane! :(

Stuff like that really happens. There is a country in South America (forget exactly which right now) which has criminalized the collection of rain water.

More reading material.

http://whatreallyhappened.com/search/node/Monsanto

What really happened has been posting stories about Monsanto for a while. The search results only seem to go back to last Sept. though.
