Post Spyware Protect 2009 Removal Help
I figured there might be a few computer PC smart people here. So apparently this scam Spyware Protect 2009 has installed itself into my computer. I looked up on instructions to uninstall it, and many of it was on deleting the files manually. The instructions said to search for the given files and processes, and delete/terminate them. I had no luck in searching for the listed files or processes, so I am stuck here with these annoying fake alerts. Anyone else have (or had) this same problem? What can I do to get rid of the sucker?

Thanks

Sounds like conflicker. Search for 'conflicker removal'. There are a number of free utilities out there. (And hope it did not bury something else in your hard drive.)

It could be vundo too. Watch out for URL redirecting when you search for fixes.

I would download malwarebytes(.org) & vundofix from attribune.org.
Try the quickscan first and then do the complete after a reboot(for malwarebytes).

There's also MacAfee stinger:

Oh and once you get your computer clean I recommend a browser plugin such as Web of Trust which will help protect against malicious webpages.

You're very fortunate. I had that lousy fake warning for a while. After a few days with no sucess getting rid of it, poof, my computer was suddenly useless. I've been trying to rescue my files ever since. Keeping my fingers crossed that wiping the memory and reinstalling everything will get me back in the saddle. Luckily, my roommate had a spare laptop for me to use in the meantime.

I had this same problem. I already had spybot and avast antivirus. So I ran the spybot because i saw my pc was acting a little funny. So I ran that and I had 114 Trojan, Malaware, Spyware and I got that all fixed and then I ran avast and cleaned out about 8 Trojans. Then I rebooted and I was still getting errors and I wasn't able to get online at all so I just backed up everything(except bookmarks grrr) restored it and now its all good.

I am not sure how I got all those Trojans because all I really do is get on skullbrain and chat.
