Oh...for some reason I was under the impression that it needed to be a body of work. That changes a few things. I might make the time to do something. The timing is just bad for me since I have 3 main projects that I'm working on at the moment and 3 commissioned pieces. I'll have to squeeze it in somewhere, I hope.

Personally I wouldn't feel right unless I submitted at least 5 pieces. This way the viewer / judges would get a better overall feel of my medium.

I really need to just get back to business so I have a body of work at any given time.

I think this is a great opportunity , and think the price of submission isn't really a big deal. Business is business and if you really want to have skilled and seasoned artist who know what they are looking at examine your work you need to cover the time and expenses.

It is a small price to pay to have people at a much higher level look at your work, people that normally wouldn't go to the small galleries like John's

Oh I'm not saying that there isn't meaning in lots of art, or even the majority of art- My comments weren't meant that way- If the artist meant something in his/her art and you want to talk about it, thats 100% fine- I've dicussed art, its was aimed at when people assume there is meaning when there isn't and try to inject their ideas into the art. My issue isn't even with those People assuming there is some deeper meaning or allegory in everything, and almost demanding there be something deeper in a way, and if it turns out there wasn't some deeper message behind it its looked down upon. Art is all opinion, but I think that throughout history we as a society have come to in our "art appreciation" to value pieces with "deeper meaning" more then those that just stand as an aesthetically pleasing image/thing/whatever, and if you do thats fine- I just find it annoying.

Thats one of my complaints about artist interviews and bios posted at museums...it's almost as if every artist has to have some whiney struggle , suffering for their art...which usually amounts to nothing really.

Then they attach all the deep pretentious stuff about a silly little painting...c'mon.

On a side note, this does sound like a great opportunity. Does the submission fee apply to each piece submitted? Does "all mediums" include screen prints? Technically I suppose you could call them "multiples". Sorry I'll stop using so many "quotes".
