Oh...for some reason I was under the impression that it needed to be a body of work. That changes a few things. I might make the time to do something. The timing is just bad for me since I have 3 main projects that I'm working on at the moment and 3 commissioned pieces. I'll have to squeeze it in somewhere, I hope.

No, you can submit 1 or up to 10 pieces of available work. Your odds are potentially better by entering more is all. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Personally I wouldn't feel right unless I submitted at least 5 pieces. This way the viewer / judges would get a better overall feel of my medium.

I really need to just get back to business so I have a body of work at any given time.

I think this is a great opportunity , and think the price of submission isn't really a big deal. Business is business and if you really want to have skilled and seasoned artist who know what they are looking at examine your work you need to cover the time and expenses.

Right...it's not like you're sending $20 and it goes nowhere. They may not accept your piece but they will look at it. It is a small price to pay to have people at a much higher level look at your work, people that normally wouldn't go to the small galleries like John's, or even some place like G1988SF/LA, White Walls, or UpperPlayground. I think they are starting to see the value in what is termed low-brow art.

Hahaha...I say that with love. I like your space...and I did mention it in the same sentence as G1988 which you can't deny is a pretty good gallery (well...sometimes it is although I haven't been to the LA one). Besides, some of those museum people can get pretty snobby.

Just a general response to the emails I have been getting, but ALL mediums are being considered. It's not just flat art so feel free to participate. And again, you can submit anywhere from 1 image to up to 10 images. Okay, thanks. Back to your scheduled programming...

Oh I'm not saying that there isn't meaning in lots of art, or even the majority of art- My comments weren't meant that way- If the artist meant something in his/her art and you want to talk about it, thats 100% fine- I've dicussed art, its was aimed at when people assume there is meaning when there isn't and try to inject their ideas into the art. My issue isn't even with those People assuming there is some deeper meaning or allegory in everything, and almost demanding there be something deeper in a way, and if it turns out there wasn't some deeper message behind it its looked down upon. Art is all opinion, but I think that throughout history we as a society have come to in our "art appreciation" to value pieces with "deeper meaning" more then those that just stand as an aesthetically pleasing image/thing/whatever, and if you do thats fine- I just find it annoying.

Thats one of my complaints about artist interviews and bios posted at museums...it's almost as if every artist has to have some whiney struggle , suffering for their art...which usually amounts to nothing really.

Then they attach all the deep pretentious stuff about a silly little painting...c'mon.

On a side note, this does sound like a great opportunity. Does the submission fee apply to each piece submitted? Does "all mediums" include screen prints? Technically I suppose you could call them "multiples". Sorry I'll stop using so many "quotes".

Does the Circumcision Vitale have to be written in Latin?

Lemme know John/666Doll! thx

No, the fee covers anywhere from 1 and up to 10 pieces total. Yes, "multiples" do count. We're all about the pretentiousness out this way pal!

Just wanna get this pushed back to the top in case people missed it or forgot. Jury date approaching soon, so just a friendly nudge.

PM's responded to. Thanks and hope more end up participating as this is a great event. Was just at the Art After Dark event at the Museum last night and people were buzzing about the possibility of having "fresher" art available at this years auction...

Again, ALL mediums are valid and accepted. Of course that is ultimately up to the jury. And, the submission fee covers your work whether it's 1 piece or up to 10. It costs you the same $20 flat! okay!
