Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter
Just picked up her/their new album,
Like, Love, Lust & The Open Halls of the Soul, from the library and not quite through my first listen I'm really liking it. A lot of moody music - iTunes classifies it as "Country", but I'd say it's country in the same way Earth's last two albums are country. She's got a great, unique voice. And I really love it when a woman fronts a band but it doesn't come across as "chick rock".
Jesse sang the song "Sinking Belle" on the Boris / Sunn O)))
Altar album.
Anyway - a nice mellow album to listen to after burning through Bison countless times over the past couple weeks. Although I also got Wolves In The Throne Room's
Two Hunters from the library too, so I'm sure I'll be bouncing back and forth between these albums for the next several days. I'm glad my office-mate is gone until Monday, otherwise I wouldn't get to properly listen to
Two Hunters for a while.
