Post Google will stop filtering Google China
I applaud Google for attempting this, but no way the Chinese Gov't will allow uncensored search results on Google's China website. It will be interesting to see if Google really pulls out of China as a result. A hot dog says they will not.

Google will stop filtering Google.cn, after dissident Gmail accounts targeted by China
On the Google blog today, news that the search giant experienced an internet attack aimed at Chinese dissidents' Gmail accounts. The attack is presumed to have been the work of the Chinese government, and may lead to Google shutting down operations in China:
These attacks and the surveillance they have uncovered--combined with the attempts over the past year to further limit free speech on the web--have led us to conclude that we should review the feasibility of our business operations in China. We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China.

Post Re: Google will stop filtering Google China
well i bet everyone in china who wants youtube, facebook and blogspot is using a proxy to go around the block anyway. i seriously doubt the gov will allow this. is so, then what's the point of being a communist country.
i hope however they improve on the speed of internet access in china.
