Who has seen Moon yet? Better off who hasn't seen Moon yet and why not? I personally loved it. There was a few seconds during this movie that almost ruined it for me but it has quickly been forgotten as this film seems to bring some much needed love and attention back to the sci-fi film genre. Hopefully we will see more movies like this in the future and as always Sam Rockwell does an amazing performance.

I really LOVED this film!
I saw it a few weeks back here in SF with a friend who isn't a sci fi fan and she also really liked it.

I'm becoming a bigger fan of Rockwell in every new thing I see him in. He pretty much steals the show in anything he's been in and without giving away any spoilers...not many actors could pull off this role in Moon as well as he did.

Smart story, great acting, believable and well done effects. This is an instant cult classic.

Also have to mention the obvious nods to 2001 & Alien in the film... which didn't make me feel as if Duncan Jones was stealing the ideas or visuals...more like paying respect.

Go see it!

Thanks for the clue on this picture. I hadn't heard of it, and now I am totally intrigued. Also, Rockwell is a fantastic actor--one of my faves; especially in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. I recently saw him in Frost/Nixon, which was a really good picture too!

This was great. Far more of a low-key '70's-type film (like Silent Running) than a big-budget CGI fest with tons of action & explosions. It was all about the acting, and Rockwell pulled it off superbly. Don't lt anyone tell you anything (or, God forbid, read any reviews) before you see it; the twists are integral to the movie. I actually thought it was going to be more of a head-trip film, but the fact that it wasn't made it that much more enjoyable.

I liked it & felt it was a 'true' sci-fi film in that used a futuristic/ alternative reality to explore complex questions & ideas (vs. a film that is essentailly just a horror or action flick set in space).

Wow, I saw it the night it opened here, loved the first 20 minutes or so, really wanted to love it and ended up asleep and bored out of my mind. I thought it would've made a great short, but just not enough going on for long periods.

I saw it here in San Diego a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Sam Rockwell IS the entire movie, and he pulls it off with ease. And I agree 100% with the "true sci-fi" sentiment, but you don't need to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy it. My wife loved it, and going in thought she'd be bored to tears. It is well worth tracking down.

Funny, when someone told me about Moon and the premise I instantly thought of Solaris. The Moon poster sort of confirms the influence... Solaris has to be one of the greatest films ever so can't really say it's a bad thing if other films use it as a major influence.

If you are referring to the original Tarkovsky version, you hit the nail on the head. The pace is sloooooooow, but ultimately it is an amazing film. His film Stalker is incredible too, but even more slowly paced, almost glacial.

Stalker is my #1 favorite film, hands down.

Damn, all those posters really have a strong Solaris vibe to them. I hope it was intended...looking forward to checking this film out, I just hope it's not a complete rip-off and stands on its own.

Checked this out in Wellington at the New Zealand Film Festival about two weeks ago. Can't recommend enough. It's a great film.

I couldn't help it, though...I kept waiting for Gerty (Kevin Spacey as the voice of the computer) to say "Guy, you have a last name."

And Sam Rockwell's screaming, hysterical reply of, "DO I? DO I? For all you know, I'm just crewman number 6! ... mommy... mommy... mommy..."

I'm hopefully going to see it this week. I'm so glad it sounds like a proper bit of sci-fi. Like Biff said, there too many films that make out to be sci-fi, but could be set anywhere.
2001 is one of my all time get stoned and get absorbed movies. When i heard Spacey is the voice of the computer, i thought, well, they've got someone there with a even creepier version than Hal.
