doom dates all the way back to Sabbath which IS the very essence of what metal is! oh I know. and I love Sabbath. and I do love some doom. there just seems to be an awful lot of it these days that isn't very well written and is kind of just like "let's hold this one note for like 12 minutes"

Wow I can't belive I mistook to find this thread!! Here is my 5 stars favorite records lml.
- BURZUM / Hvis Lyset Tar Oss - Defleshed / Fast Forward - The Haunted / One Kill Wonder - Mors Principium Est / The Unborn
I used to buy Metal CDs as hell but I lose my passion as such/ maybe get bored to listen to follower stuffs, however, I keep checking my favorite bands.
As you noticed, I tend to like the metal music from Scandinavia!! If you come from Finland, Sweden, please make a friend with me lol

Awesome pills indeed. I have a whole new level of respect for Halford after playing through Brutal Legend. Not only was he the voice of several great characters, but there were a couple of Priest songs on the soundtrack that have me seriously interested in picking up a couple of their early albums. Also, according to this classically-trained voice teacher, Halford "is super talented" and "demonstrates mad skills"! http://www.invisibleoranges.com/2010/07/ask-a-real-musician-5-classic-male-metal-singers/Seriously, there's no arguing with a music teacher from NYC.

 Re: metal
Is it strange that I love Judas Priest and am bored to tears with Iron Maiden? Because everyone I know that is into metal is either the opposite or likes both to different degrees. To me, Maiden is the soundtrack to playing role playing games in your parents basement. Priest is the soundtrack to going into random bars and starting fights. Maybe it's just me.
Anyway, I go through phases of being really into metal. The last time was about 3 or 4 years ago, when I mainly listened to lots of Clandestine Blaze, Satanic Warmaster and Horna. Not that I don't listen to other kinds of metal, but what can anyone suggest on that kind of front? You know, raw, non-keyboard based black metal. The only new thing I've been listening to is the new Watain album (which I like, maybe even love).
