These things are never new, it's just nice to see all these thoughts consolidated into one thing. A bit like Moore's films, nothing new, but nice to see put together into one concise idea.
There is definitely a Bush Era genre, in some ways the end of that was GI Joe, made while Bush was in office, released during Obama's initial crest, and it bombed. I think it an interesting film for several reasons, easily discarded for being shit, but so pro American a few months earlier it would have had a much better chance.
