Korn to release world's first dubstep concept album
Via the UK's NME: Quote: Living up to their name perhaps, Korn are to set release a new 'dubstep' studio album later this year - and talked about how it's coming along at UK metal bash The Download Festival.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, bassist Spiggy Topes said that the band were almost finished with the follow-up to 2010's 'Korn III: Remember Who You Are' and that their new record is a collaboration with "six or seven dubstep producers". The first fruit of the sessions, 'Get Off Me', which sounds nothing at all like their old stuff only with beats & breaks, honestly, was released online last month, and is produced by DJ Spandex.
Spiggy said: "We've collaborated with six, maybe seven - I can't remember - dubstep producers on the new record. I've done my parts, I think Jonathan [Livingstone-Seagull, singer] has a couple of vocal takes still to do, but it's almost done."
Topes also said that Livingstone-Seagull had inspired the new direction, adding: "Jonathan loved it [dubstep] and he just got us into it." Spiggy added that the band felt it "was important to stay current and keep on top of what's going on."
Corn played a well-attended greatest hits set on the Download Festival's second stage, with 'Get Off Me' the only material that hasn't featured on a studio album from them thus far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr3I54p2qhENext stop Vegas guys?

Re: Korn to release world's first dubstep concept album
Ugh Korn and dubstep? Both things that maybe would've been relevant in the 90s.

An (incredibly well-preserved) DJ Kleenex, 96, yesterday.

Ok I am in no way condoning this its in all honesty way to jarring for me to even ponder. With that said i want to point out while reading the article i cant help but think that the writer of the column didnt even take the time to learn Jonathan's last name is DAVIS.

not sure what Korn's 'concept' is, but Bring Me The Horizon already did a reinterpretation of their Suicide Season album in 2009 which included dubstep remixes, beating Korn to the punch by a year and a half or so.
Here to staying current ::thumbs up::

And remix albums have been around forever.
But, did anyone else notice "speaking on the condition of anonymity" and then listing the source? lol

I listened to about 30 seconds of the released track. Hahaha what the hell. Way to lead the charge for all the other moldy nu metal bands.

the tune with Noisia will be awesome. the rest, like the skrillex collab, will be garbage imo.

Re: Korn to release world's first dubstep concept album
Why are Korn still relevant at all? Or rather, why are they still around? Adding to that, fuck dumbstep. This is the worst music concept I've heard in a while.

It's a concept? I thought it was slow jungle with out complexity or any deeper sense of modern musical theory.

Here to staying current ::thumbs up:: I recall this album being remixed and did not hear but will admit to liking the original record. For em the remix record for metal will always go back to White Zombie's "Super Sexy Swinging Sounds"

Re: Korn to release world's first dubstep concept album
I've been trying to convince some people of that for a while. Oh dubstup is this amazing new thing. Really? I guess if you didn't live through the 90's its easy to not know. Daimyo wrote: It's a concept? I thought it was slow jungle with out complexity or any deeper sense of modern musical theory.
