eee... Blade Runner is one of those movies that there is so much at play making it what it is. I don't think that magic can be replicated. I hope this doesn't suck, but I think I'll just have to think of it as an upcoming sci fi flick, and not get excited about the connection.

at least they have enough sense to not remake the original.

The connection actually doesn't make me excited it makes me really really apprehensive.

“This announcement is brought to you by the Shimata Dominguez Corporation

the best case scenario for a reboot/revitalization these days is star trek/x men first class and such. crisp, well written and well acted with a couple cute but minor nods to the original. the worst case scenario, which i would especially fear here because of certain genre similarities, is tron legacy.

but i really posted because i want to watch blade runner again and can't remember which is considered the truest/most excellent cut of the movie. any strong opinions either way?

Worst case scenario is tron legacy?
Really?
Not the whole Bayformers atrocity? etc...

It's a good thing that Ridley Scott is returning to direct sci-fi again. There is so much more that can be drawn from that universe. Can't wait.

I like the idea of a prequel as we caught the tail end of the Androids rampage.

but getting someone to play a younger Ford and Hauer will not be easy.

I just assumed Ford would try to play an age inappropriate character again and star in it...

"If you're asking me will this movie have anything to do with Harrison Ford, the answer is no”

I would hope that's the definitive word on it.

Bayformers is pretty crappy too I guess, but with those movies I wasn't expecting the possibility of something decent. They're alright disaster popcorn flicks with terrible writing.

I'd sit through tron legacy a thousand times before I ever saw a bay movie again.
I didn't think tron was that bad, I enjoyed it, it didn't trash my opinion of the original, which I love, but in all honesty is a flawed movie.

fair enough. i shouldn't be trying to tie the two franchises together, i was never even into the original round of 80s stuff chiefly because i wasn't alive at the time.

i think the upcoming alien-ish scott film prometheus should be a good indicator of his creative level these days.

This is the other problem, I can't recall the last film of his I really liked.
