Toys damaged in a move + insurance claim
I'd posted about this in Whole Collection Shots but I thought I'd post the follow-up here...
To recap: I moved to a different city a few months ago and movers packed and moved my stuff. I had been told by the appraiser that every toy would be individually packed and bubble-wrapped. Turns out they were packed in paper, so horns and tails and what not tore through, rubbed on boxes and got scratched/discoloured, and that smaller items were packed together (including my Sleeping Killers, eek!).
So, after the inspectors came about two months ago, I finally got a cheque on Friday. Through some mysterious calculations, they're giving me 30$ per damaged toy, regardless of the value of said toy (well, 15$ toys = 15$). Fine for cheaper toys, but damaged Brian Flynn customs or DX Kun etc. are somewhat more painful. Not sure if they took the declared value of the toys at face value or what. They apparently "assumed (I) didn't want to replace the items". I'll call Monday and ask if I could try and find replacements and maybe post a list here if you have anything for sale... If the items are replaced, I think they're taking them away, to, I assume, be auctioned off later...
To be followed!

Re: Toys damaged in a move + insurance claim
Jesus! At least they didn't just steal all your toys man, when I moved to the city I'm in now we had a box of unopened original 12-back SW figs vanish from the removal truck and it was the only box actually marked with what was in it....so we're sure it was actually stolen by one of the movers. It was worth thousands and they gave us $100 because although we had pics of them we couldn't prove they were on the truck because we packed them ourselves and it was paid as "box of toys". Bastards. Last year when we moved again all our stuff turned up and an extra box full of gear and they couldn't track down the owners so we were told to keep it, man there was some weirdo sh*t in there!
