Any of you guys going to this? I'll be there as a guest of Unbox Industries. I'm working on an exclusive t-shirt design, some Unbox toy releases and I should have a small sampling of Monster Worship stuff too.

My sister lives in London so I'm staying for a week, hope to catch some good gigs.

It says the tickets are all sold out on the website (?) I don't think theres enough Japanese toy action to interest me anyway.
I think the Godzilla logo for the event is a little misleading (or am i missing something).

Looks like a lot of very creative people will be there none the less, so have a blast :D

Sold out? Interesting. Yeah I know what you mean, lots of designer toy stuff, not really my bag although I don't hate it or anything.

I'm looking forward to the trip, always fun for me in London- I walk around like a slack-jawed, mouth-breathing hillbilly.

I don't live in London but as far as i was aware the only castle in the centre of London is the Tower of London:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_of_London

A work colleague just suggested Rochester Castle:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rochester_Castle but this is about an hour outside London (31 miles).

Theres loads in Wales & Scotland.
One of my favourites is Chepstow castle in Wales :)

I do kind of want to go, I'm not into the designer stuff what so ever but would be interested anyway. I tried to get a booth but left it too late. I will be at the tattoo and toy con in Cardiff though in July, would be cool if some other boardies came, Moog I'm looking at you.

Thanks for the tips Moog, I'll probably visit the tower.

Last time I was there I was a teenager who couldn't care less about history, and I haven't been back in subsequent trips.

I'm gonna check into those other spots too.

I don't think any are in person besides greasebat but restore and super 7 both have exclusives at the con.

Warwick Castle is excellent and well within striking distance of London.

Image

By Rail
Warwick Station is approximately one mile from the Castle. A direct service into London Marylebone (1 hour 45 minutes) or Birmingham Snow Hill is available. For information visit www.centraltrains.co.uk or www.chilternrailways.co.uk.

Thanks guy! Leeds and Warwick castles look great, exactly what I'm hoping to see. I appreciate the suggestions.

I might take a day trip on one of those old people bus tours to Brussels and see the Herge museum too... So much stuff to do.

Post Re: Toycon UK 2013
So... the traveling part of the trip sucked ass. Day one- flight cancelled from my hillbilly local airport so I lost an entire day. Coming back the midwest storms cancelled nearly every flight to Ohio, so I spent the night "sleeping" on the floor at O'Hare. I got down to the Cleveland flights early in the morning and slipped onto the first one, no problems, after their customer service people said they were booked until evening (United Airlines) .

Anyway- the actual toycon part was great, lots of very nice people. I got to hang out with Pete Fowler and Mark James at a pub afterwards, through great effort I avoided staying and getting blitzed.

I also met some of the UK skullbrain members, that was sweet too.

I ended up just going to the Tower Of London for my medieval castle fix, it was everything I expected it to be. Last time I was there I didn't really care so much about history, I was just looking to buy cheap doc martens. The tintin shop was excellent, and I went to sports direct for my Lonsdale gear. London can actually be pretty cheap if you shop around a little.

So cool, had some great businessy type meetings while I was there too, including an afternoon with Dan from Unbox, that was a blast. As a lifelong toy collector it was fun to hang with somebody who's worked all over the industry.
