Soooo I'm taking a little road trip from Louisville with the family to see the in-laws in Florida and we are taking 2 days this time. I'll be driving 65-S and 75-S and then heading up to Tybee Island near Savannah GA.

Does anyone have recommendations for unique sites on the way or some good toy spots that I may run into on this trip? We will be in Orlando for a few days and there's got to be something interesting there or some Kaiju shops? Hopefully I can run into a roto-matic or two!

No real kaiju shops here unfortunately There is Acme Superstore which has some Japanese toys and a lot of Star Wars, GI Joe, etc

this toy store is right on the main street in savannah, across the street from some popular ice cream place that is really good. its your typical 80s toy store (star wars, motu, etc) but always has some unusual and cool stuff. i used to live in savannah and went to the shop a couple of times, might be worth the stop if you want to take your family to savannah after tybee- its a great city.

Where in FL are you going? If you make it down to South FL you should hit up Tate's in the Fort Lauderdale area. It's a giant comic/toy store. They have a very small kaiju section but its a great place all around.

Kevin- I'll be in Orlando a few days so I will definitely try to swing by the Acme Superstore...sounds right up my alley

Michael- I think we are definitely heading into savannah for a day so I will be sure to check it out - thanks for the link it looks like there's some wild stuff there...gotta be some hidden treasures!

Aldo- Unfortunately the farthest south we will go is Sebastian for a few days, they live in The Villages near Ocala so we will be up there for a good bit of the trip, head down to Sebastian and then to Orlando on the way back for Disney, etc. But I will keep Tate's in mind for the future...I think we are planning on heading down that way early next year.

I have driven from Ohio to Florida on 71 south many times...

Don't remember any toy....
But the wonderful firework stores I mean huge huge huge firework stores...
We have none of these around where I live.

I love fire & fireworks...... Man it's time to use up the rest of my mortars;)

Thanks Mark! I have noticed on past drives that the south seems to have a ridiculous abundance of and infatuation with fireworks...I always wondered how those warehouses make money throughout the year.

Fortunately for those of us in Louisville we can drive a few minutes into Indiana and find just about any type of firework you could want...and you can't beat those buy 1 get 2 free deals !!
