A general question for you, Chris - and I swear I'm not trying to be argumentative here - are there some female characters in the modern TVscape that you've actually liked? :P

It's funny you mention that because I'm starting to believe I hate every female character (or how she is written) on TV. I love Carrie on Homeland, I really loved Debra on Dexter. So there's two :) I don't think it's women per say, it's when they write characters stereotypically.

With me it's a generational gap thing. I'm Gen X, so I sometimes (not always) think the younger generation needs to get over themselves, stop moping about expecting things, being selfish (it's all about me), and be pro-active. They usually write younger teenage (and kids) characters on TV with all those characteristics so...

I like complex characters that don't try to hard and keep you guessing.

Well finished season 2 and watched 1st episode of season 3. I really liked Saul for a bit but now he seems over bearing and constantly flip flopping on caring for Carrie and throwing her under the bus.

Ha, wait for it - the whole "throwing under the bus"-thing will lead to one of the best drama moments in the series so far... And yeah, Quinn's a great character, although he turned into one of the good guys a bit too quickly for my taste.

As far as Homeland has gone so far I wouldn't be too sure he actually is a good guy ;)

I don't know after watching Quinn's character basically tell off Saul, try to help Carrie, and threaten those dickhead bankers- all in one episode (season 3 episode 2), he basically shot up to #1 favorite character. Hell I might even have a mancrush on him.

EDIT: All caught up, save for tonights episode which I can watch tomorrow. I love show marathons. Really like season 3 so far.

So any thoughts on Season 3? Pretty interesting at the end of last episode where Saul goes to see a strung out Brody?!

Just finished the third season. Kind of disappointing I have to say. I mean, at first I thought they gave way too much time to Brody's family, and then poof, they just completely vanished, not even a reaction to what happens in the last episode. There were no real suprises during the season, you could pretty much see everything coming. Really not sure I'll watch season 4. It will be a totally new show anyway...

I agree. I kind of figured they would kill off Brody but wasn't he the essence of the show? I think he could have been written a little better and stayed longer. Saul was the riveting character to watch this season but they left themselves with almost nowhere to go next season. As far as Brody's family- I'm kind of glad they're out of the picture! The teenage daughter is in my top 5 of all time annoying characters in the history of television- maybe the world.

Yea it's kind of a slap in the face that we had to put up with the family drama bs which amounted to nothing in the end  But I'll take it as a sign that they actually listened to people's complaints and revised the script/show? I really hope they don't go back to it in the 4th, unless of course the daughter finally succeeds with the suicide attempts

A bit weird to me, kind of seemed like they should have just ended the show off completely with how they left it. That they are coming back for more season(s) is really stretching what I think was a gimmicky premise show at best. This last season was very disjointed from the previous ones, and yet I think for that was a lot stronger in many areas. Anyhow, with Brody gone, Saul out of the agency, and Carrie off in Turkey, it once again seems like they are going to have to build up a whole new baddie and plotlines for any upcoming seasons. I am sure it is doable, but it won't really have any relation to what has come before.
