 Re: Kaiju fishing lures
many of the sofubi factories are set up to produce exactly these and have been for years. the garamon/pygmon ones used to be common on ebay, believe it or not.

 Re: Kaiju fishing lures
Does COOP know about this? I think he collects old fishing lures.
The fishing lure paint they sell at sporting goods stores- I always wanted to try that on vinyl toys.

 Re: Kaiju fishing lures
aghhh, I was hoping for some help on how to buy these, but seems like I only created more competition for acquiring them! I hope when I do come across they are not too expensive, since my plan is to really go fishing with them. It's a bad feeling when you break off an expensive lure.

 Re: Kaiju fishing lures
Haha if I find any I will definitely share with you! Unfortunately I only found one on ebay by typing in "ryobi lure" and it's at $20 with no hooks and who knows what condition Not sure what these go for but I would definitely be looking for NIB for that price range

 Re: Kaiju fishing lures
I am assuming that this article inspired you? Here are some search terms that I've been able to suss out, I hope that it helps: Ryobi - リョービ Fishing - フィッシング Bait - ベイト Plug - プラグ Apparently used as a common term to refer to a lure in a general, but also just like we use plug in English. Lure - ルアー and for reference; Ultraman - ウルトラマン Both of the terms for 'plug' & 'lure' seem to be used as suffixes, in other words if you were looking for an Ultraman lure it would be written as ウルトラマンルアー . Again though, I got more hits on Yahoo! Japan using the characters for 'plug'.

 Re: Kaiju fishing lures
So I made my first monster fishing lure using an old finger puppet. I took it out fishing yesterday, but waited till the end of the day to test it out. No fish yet, but it swims surprisingly well in the water.
