Re: Collection Intervention - SyFy Network
TAG got this sweet email after the robot episode:
Hi...I was watching Collection Intervention tonight when they featured your store. The gentleman that was in the clip is Tom Frank...he looks just like a stand up comic I knew back in Ann Arbor, Michigan and I seem to remember his name was Tom Frank...is it the same guy?
Response: I'm not sure what you are talking about. They just used our space to film and I don't know any of the people involved. I'm also not sure of your friend from Ann Arbor's whereabouts. Since I've never met your friend, and don't know the Tom Frank from the show I can't really speak to whether or not they are the same person. Sorry for the confusion. Let me know if you have further inquiries.

Re: Collection Intervention - SyFy Network
I just stumbled across this show last week and downloaded a couple of episodes to check out. Man, what a depressing/infuriating/uncomfortable show to sit through!
You can tell by the narration that it's aimed at "regular joes" as they talk about collectors and their habits like it's a documentary on National Geographic. And the host was just horrible.. She claims to be a collectibles expert (in my opinion anybody who calls toys 'collectibles' doesn't know shit about anything to do with toys/comics).. the way she was MC-ing the Star Wars auction is a great example of how out of place and lost she was as the host of this show. Just watching it has made me pissed off for the past few days.. Especially seeing how some of these people's partners have no respect for their collections.
Ahhh geez as much of a headache this show was to watch, it cool to see a familiar face pop into the room during one episode.. Hey Brian, now that the show is cancelled and a few years old is there any chance of you shedding some more light on your experience filming the episode? I haven't seen the TAG episode yet.. is it worth checking out?

Re: Collection Intervention - SyFy Network
The thing that pisses me off the most about this type of show is that, o.k., yes, as adults we are aware collecting can be a serious and debilitating addiction...I get that...but the fact that society is (more or less) perfectly fine with the creators and hosts of this show (and others of its ilk) exploiting the shit out of people for profit. The folks that work in TV that are willing to go exploit these collectors for ratings/cash or worse, just to get some face time of their own on television, those people are the sick ones.
I am totally fine with giving a positive vibe and garnering more attention to this great hobby, it just seems that whenever television gets a hold of something like this they want to cast people in a negative light for ratings and a reaction.

Re: Collection Intervention - SyFy Network
Here's an article with some short episode descriptions/reviews and some links to articles about the show being presented to it's guests as something totally different.. Apparently the show was originally called "Master Collectors" at the time of shooting. http://idlehands1.blogspot.com.au/2012/ ... ntion.html
