I don't think they will. I'm interested in seeing them play but it's not going to happen. They just don't have the depth.

Western conference is just too strong.

depends on if they saved enough money on the deal to pay the refs.

I'd rather watch paint dry...

NCAA basketball...now that's fun to watch!

I agree with this. Now, if the Mavs make a trade for Kobe then I'd say the Mavs will win it all.
I would love to see Boston miss the playoffs! And it's entirely possible with an injury or two to one of their three players. I don't think they'll make the Finals regardless of health.

I sure wish both teams could lose. God, this has been the worst Finals since LA/NJ.
I can't believe how badly Kendrick Perkins has been outplaying KG in the Finals, nay, the entire Playoffs. KG is such a pansy. But when the opposing 7-footer is Pau Gas-hole it doesn't really matter - it's like they've been having a contest to see who can be the biggest pansy.
And the officiating has been the worst since the Lakers/Kings Western Conference Finals of '01 or whenever it was.

I am a die hard laker fan but boston deserves to win and I actually really respect Garnett so I'm happy he'll get a ring.
The matchup is pretty lopsided. I actually think the hornets or warriors would have outplayed Boston. I mean Atlanta style of play caused it to go 7 games.

I dont like the Lakers or the Celtics. I'm pulling for the Celtics just because I can't stand Kobe. I really wish all the Kobe comparisons to MJ would stop, it's borderline ridiculous.

Having watched all 5 games so far, I'm still surprised that LA has even won 2 games. They haven't looked in control this entire series, with the exception of the first quarter in game 4.

The only thing the Lakers can hope for at the moment is that all 5 starters for the Celtics eventually get injured.

KG is a great player for 3 quarters. When the 4th hits you can't count on him. He turns into a 7 foot jump shooter.

I would say that the Lakers should have won game 2 - if you're a Laker fan that was a travesty in officiating. But some would say that's karma coming back for the Lakers/Kings series - I say sucks to karma, I just want to see a fair game.
And KG hasn't done anything in the Finals - it's been all Pierce, Ray and Perkins with a little Powe and Posey thrown in. I hate the fact that KG will probably be getting a ring - he better wear it on his pinky!

I really wish that the ref's would cut down on the complaining after a call, it just gets so damn annoying. 80% of players in the NBA have NEVER commited a foul.

The Lakers are letting the officiating get to them. They've been visibly rattled by calls for long strecthes of a couple games this series. Plus it doesnt help when Kobe is yelling at you on the court, then throwing you under the bus afterwards.

As for KG, he's a top 50 player, but the fact of the matter is he's never got it done on his own. He had his chances back in minnesota with some very talanted clubs where he was the #1 option, but came up short. Unfortunately for him, he is always going to live under Tim Duncan's shadow.

I dunno that he's top-50 - that's stretching it quite a bit.

I'd say he's close. Definitely more like 49-50 than like 25 :D

I mean, he's played in about 1000 games and has career averages of 20/11/4.

Compared to someone like Karl Malone who averaged 24/10/3.5 they are pretty similar, and I'd say Malone was a top 50 player. And KG didnt have a hall of fame point guard passing the ball to him.

Personally I'm not a fan, but those are really solid numbers.

Gotta take into account style of play and impact as well. Karl Malone and Charles Barkley are both more deserving of Top 50 than KG because they had a greater impact and epitomized how the PF position should be played. I'd say that KG is on Chris Webber's level - definitely a very good player, but not Top 50. I think of them as top 80 percentile players.
Also, Top-50 players don't ride coat-tails on their way to championships when they're still in their prime.

if boston hadn't traded for KG there is no way they would be in their current position. he MADE that team what it is, i'd hardly call that coat-tail riding, ala sam cassell

barkley and malone, top 50? really??

i'm so glad barkley never won a championship. did malone get one with the lakeshow, or did he join in 2004 when they self-destructed?

Malone a top 50? Well...he IS #2 all time on the scoring list...so I guess he's got that going for him...

I never liked Malone, I HATED the jazz..but I still think he's a top 50 all time player, if not top 30.

He also missed the LA gravey train. Him and Gary Payton signed onto the Lakers the last Shaq year for LA I believe.

Oh god, I hated Malone! But I still think he was better than KG (and he is named on the Top 50 list). And yeah, that was great to see Malone and GP miss out on rings! But GP eventually got one with Miami, right?
KG made the Celtics what they were in the regular season. He was the catalyst for sure. But to me it looks like he's riding coat tails in the Playoffs. That's his big failing - never being able to deliver under pressure.
What Cassel is doing happens every single year - vets crying to be cut from their crappy team so they can sign for peanuts with a contender. I think the league needs to put a stop to it. But Cassel isn't going to be cited as the reason the Celtics won - KG will. And while KG put them in a good position, he hasn't done much during the Playoffs. I hope that the media and history recognizes that it's Pierce that's carrying his team to a championship.

I really don't follow sports but have tuned into the 4th quarter, especially as I live in Greater Boston and think Phil Jackson and Kobe are prima-donnas or overrated.

Celtics are destroying LA 91 versus 61....with 11.11 left in the 4th quarter

I hope Boston doesn't have riots...

LA is getting exposed. I dont care what all this talk is about 'next year with bynum they'll win 70'. If they dont learn to defend a simple pick and roll by november, they'll be lucky to win 50.

If manu ginobli didnt have a bum wheel, we'd be watching the Spurs vs. Boston. Otherwise known as KG's worst nightmare.

Wow. I just stopped watching now that I know how it's gonna end. I can't believe how badly the Lakers are playing. Probably the worst ball I've seen anyone play in the Playoffs this year outside of Denver...well, maybe even as bad as Denver.
Gonna be fun to see if Kobe throws a fit this summer and demands changes! I was pretty impressed with how his teammates responded up until the Finals...in the Finals they all wilted and became anemic.
