 Tea Anyone?
I was thinking that we should start a "tea" thread... In a different section, some of you started an interesting conversation on the topic of tea: kontact wrote: Vombie wrote: kontact wrote: Darth Hank wrote: I recently started drinking tea a lot. It really helps me relax towards the end of the day. Has anyone ever had coconut tea before? I have started to as well to get away from coffee, currently organic Yun Wu green tea, and 1997 Imperial Shou Pu-erh. I feel like an asshole using fancy names but i highly recommend them. I'll have to write those down. They sound interesting. What was it about them that appealed to you? Do they have certain health benefits or is it mostly the flavor you go for? Have you ever had the Kyai-Bing-Chur blend? It's awesome. sorry. couldn't help myself.I wanted ones with health benefits basically, so trying one of the green teas they had was a given. And I wanted one that helps with digestion which the Pu-erh was suggested. You can actually order online, excellent place here in SD: http://www.halcyontea.com/

I tried renaming my thread but was unable to! My vote goes for Yorkshire Tea (obviously) . . . . although I don't think I'm alone in its appreciation.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
Coconut tea? I want to try it!
Green tea makes me a bit nasueus but I love white teas.
Vegas has a huge tea convention as it has become such a big industry in the states.
I miss the smell of tea shops in HongKong.
I think I'll make a fresh ginger/lemon/honey today.

Ha, awesome. I will definitely be able to contribute as me and the girl are currently trying new ones almost weekly.
I'll have to check out the Yorkshire, seeing as it was suggested by someone across the pond.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
Generally green tea. Mint Green. Ginger Green. Tarragon Green. When I'm sick I really like Traditional Medicinal's Throat Coat (with some Sailor Jerry's rum!). And Yogi's Detox tea. Putting milk or cream in tea is wrong.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
Yorkshire Tea is mmmmm good. And I definitely want to try that coconut tea! I've tried tea with some coconut in it before at Teavana (very good), but I haven't ever tried coconut tea by itself. I love coconut, so I am definitely intrigued! I also like certain "fruit" teas. I really like Raspberry tea as well as berry and wild strawberry tea. But then there are really good calming teas that I like. And rose teas I really like too. At our house, Brian and I have an herb garden where we grow various herbs as well as some that we use to make tea with. Some really great herbs that we use to make calming/relaxing teas with are: Melissa (Lemon Balm), Chamomile, Scullcap, Valerian (very pugnant.. I'm not a big fan of that one, but Brian loves it), and Catnip (catnip is a stimulant for cats, but acts as a very mild sedative for humans. Very good sleepy time or relaxing tea)..

I'm pretty big on Earl Grey...if it's good enough for Batman, it's good enough for me.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
My wife likes to make "yogi tea" that we always take with us to gatherings. It's very popular. She boils peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon stick, ginger, and sometimes cardamom pods, for about an hour in a covered pot. Then she adds honey and milk/soy milk. She rarely puts in actual tea because the kids like it and we prefer our kids decaffeinated , but you can also add black tea and it's quite good.

Green or jasmine is in my current rotation, mint sometimes. no milk for me either... bleh Guilty pleasure is the occasional deep-South ghetto(sweet) ice tea.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
What was an intentional thread derail has sparked something awesome! I will find out the name of the coconut tea. It is exceptional! I had never had anything like it before. I'm very partial to green teas. I recently had a green tea with pomegranate infused. It was really smooth. I know some times green tea can be bitter I found this tea to be smooth. I'm not sure on the company, I'll double check. I want to say it was Yogi Teas.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
that's HILARIOUS! do you know how long it's been since i've seen china mist or leaves pure teas? they were actually one of my clients when i was in arizona... i designed that line of packaging. something like 18 different varieties, and they wanted each one to have it's own PMS color. there are only so many shades of green, people! xD and yeas, that was my favorite variety. the only box i have left of the toasted rice is the sample box i got for my packaging portfolio. but i'm also an earl grey sort of guy. ... at closer look, it seems they've done some slight redesign to the packaging. i'll see if i can find my digital portfolio and post up the original design. okay... here.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
Recently I've found that minty teas are amongst my favorites! You know, here there's that grandma's tradition of taking teas for any illness, ache or disease you may have. I remember taking garlic and bayleaf tea for the cough, and I actually liked it. Anyways, I wonder if that coconut tea has actually some black or green tea on it.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
Green tea with lemon ginger. Buy it in bulk.
Also, if you use tea bags, get a steel tea ball. Bags have lint. Lint is in your tea. You drink the lint, you now have tea bag lint in you.
Also Hibiscus tea is amazing! If you have problems with traditional sources of vitamin C being too acidic, you need to get hibiscus tea. Tons of vitamin C and none of the acid.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
We drink Hibiscus ice tea here, we call it 'Agua de Jamaica' it's not acidic but it's sour if that makes sense. Of course if you put sugar in it the sourness is gone and it's very refreshing. MicromanZone wrote: Green with lemon ginger. Buy it in bulk.

Ahh yes Hibiscus, we have some Hibiscus Breeze currently. Super good when iced as well, a little honey makes it even better.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
Nativa brand is the best Yerba Mate, kills Guyaki brand! Can't find it in too many stores, gotta get it from their website. 2lb bag for $14, well worth it! http://www.nativayerbamate.com/ Also I brew 50/50 with Genmaicha green tea w/ toasted rice. Add a little hunny and boom! Great hot or iced. Trust me this the combo is awesome! http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genmaich ... ected=true

 Re: Tea Anyone?
I love "teh tarik". Teh= tea tarik= pull As they pour from cup to container they pull it up. It cools down the tea a little and froth it up at the same time.

 Re: Tea Anyone?
If we are going to talk tea we have to get one thing straight. Tea is only camellia sinensis, everything else is a tisane. Not that I dislike tisanes, they just aren't teas. Sorry for the rant but I suspect you will understand if you imagine someone calling labbits kaiju. I LOVE tea, but I really only drink Chinese Oolongs and pu-erh. Always made in unglazed yi-xing clayware. Song zhong dan cong, bao-zhong and tong ting are my favorites.
