I just saw the movie Jesus Camp last night. Mr. Haggard makes an appearance. The theatre errupted in laughter when he came on screen. That movie scares the shit out of me.

the worst thing about this situation is that it will ultimately just be a test that god has put on haggard as a faith check...he'll either end up blowing in back alleys for caps of meth or make more tax-free millions with tales of his fall and subsequent return to the flock...and none of it will be his fault...blame the gay masseuse with the crank...

I wish this were the case. What will really happen is that, much like Rush Limbaugh being a drug addict, his followers will forget this soon and it will go back to being business as usual.

So even though they will eventually "forgive" this guy (and is being gay or doing drugs something you need to be forgiven for in the first place?) they will still hate homosexuals and drug users and keep trying to legislate their morals onto the rest of us. Assholes.

I look at it this way, if that many high ranking church leaders are getting busted on a fairly regular basis, then what does that say about the flock ?

I think it's already being reframed that Haggard is a liar, and that is his major mistake, lying to his followers.

I imagine that he will disappear for a while and then return, saying how he had been "cured" from homosexuality and drugs.
