 Re: Prometheus trailer
Spoilers. I saw it twice now, first time was serious business, second time was just for something to do. It's a fun movie. It could have been one of the best Sci-Fi movies ever made, but that third act is just so Weyland being alive ruined it for me. From that point on the movie really struggles to keep up the positives from before it (especially the way Vickers dies, I mean, come on). There are a lot of inconsistencies in the way things played out, and the set up for a sequel just makes me cringe (not because there could be a sequel, just because it's so forced). Anyway, it's still a lot fun to watch and the effects are just incredible. There are moments that reek of genius and then there are bigger moments that just make me confused as to why it ended up in the final product, but really, Ridley Scott isn't known for being the greatest director either. In my ideal world, we would have had a two hour movie just of David alone on the ship before they ever woke up. THAT would have been a masterpiece. So, how about that confirmed upcoming Ridley Scott Blade Runner sequel, huh?! Ughhhhh.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
I enjoyed all the b-movie goofiness, but I love how we're given just enough information pertaining to the nature of the primordial ooze to be able to speculate endlessly. I think that is the true genius of this film, and it won't be diminished if they never get a chance to explain it any further. I almost hope they don't. I can't wait for the Blue-Ray.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
David was the best part of the movie for me. More of him would've definitely been welcomed. ...... Parts of the movie seemed rushed and incomplete. I'm hoping the directors cut will make it better in that regard. And vickers death was definitely an ugh moment. Not as bad as weylands mech suit though.

They cut a lot out (probably near an hour), and a major complaint has been about the characters being under written. If Kingdom of Heaven is anything to go by (the general consensus is that the directors cut is a much much better movie than the original), the same could be said for Prometheus. I hope so anyway.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
Too bad they've apparently already said that they're not going to be doing a longer cut for the blu-ray, but they'll have a "deleted scenes" section on the disc.

I call shenanigans on that. I'd bet a dollar, maybe two that there'll eventually be a directors cut at some point. They know it's easy money to be taken from the sci fi/cinephile nerds out there.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
Good call Baikin. That was the first thing I saw him in, and he was easily the best part of the movie.
"I'm not even supposed to be here. I'm just "Crewman Number Six." I'm expendable. I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is. I've gotta get outta here."

 Re: Prometheus trailer
That movie is so underrated. Every time I get someone to watch it, I have to convince them that it's hilarious.
And if we're talking about great roles of Sam Rockwell, let's not forget Confessions of a Dangerous Mind!

I thought it was a travesty when he really only had one head in the movie version of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I was really hoping to see him get into arguments/fights with himself. He would have pulled that off so well.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
Here's a phenomenal review from the guys who did the Star Wars movie reviews. It pretty much covers EVER plot hole/gap. And it's pretty funny. I mean "Why would Weyland even have to fake his death?" Why would the aliens create a starmap to a weapons facility?"etc. It's worth 4 minutes of your time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... x1YuvUQFJ0

 Re: Prometheus trailer
Loved it. I admit I hadn't thought of it that way but yeah, what was that map about? How did different cultures get that same pattern? Why?
I'd also add: why was the music in the trailer so good and the music in the movie so bad?
