Finally picked up on this recommendation a couple of day ago. Thoroughly enjoyable! Toby Jones is fantastic in it, so subtle and funny, and it was great to see Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Sketch in Skins) all growed up. Series 1 is available on Netflix now, and the net can provide the rest.

I can't say that I'm familiar with another show that's quite like it, but I did find myself thinking a lot of Doc Martin while I was having a look. Leisurely and rural, I guess.

Its a subtle show that's perfectly balanced with the drama & comedy. Did you see there's an extra Christmas episode for series two?

I really like the slightly barmy Farmer they have to ask permission from, so they can detect on his land. With his posh accent . . . . . I say, did either of you two chaps see a trampoline roll by just now? There wasn't a small child in it was there?

Like you say, theres not many shows like it . . . most UK comedies based in small villages and rural communities are quaint, mainstream and very nostalgic. 'Last of the summer wine', 'Vicar of Dibley' and the like. Saying that, there's the classic 'League of Gentlemen' which is brilliantly perverse, so its not all quaint chocolate box whimsy.

Either way, most sitcoms are situated in Cities. Or at least large towns . . . . .

I just recently rediscovered Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, I forgot how bloody brilliant it is!

Yep, Garth Marenghi is a classic. Good call.

Technically there are 4 seasons of Alan Partridge (plus the original Radio Show that spawned the TV series)

Ah, I specifically meant the 'I'm Alan Partridge' series I didn't realize they had Mid Morning Matters out too?? or the audio book!! now I must go a-hunting!

So many great comedy series don't make it out over here, so I miss out on the stuff I used to watch back home, like Gimme Gimme Gimme, Bo Selecta! and plenty of others.
