I thought the episode was a little sleepy till the end when they found the
giant herd and Eugenes reveal
I thought Abraham's
backstory could have been executed better. I mean the tie in to meeting Eugene was good, but I wish more time was spent on Abraham and his family surviving. Rather than implied details, I wanted to see the harshness. Less time could have been spent talking about Eugene's hair in present day. That got old quick.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I was explaining to my wife last night how it would be more believable if their rifles were all chambered in the same caliber, that way the group could pool ammo. In a SHTF scenario, US military & law enforcement will have piles of .223 / 5.56... so it would make sense if the entire group had AR15s / M16s / M4s. You might come across 7.62 x 39 for the AK on the shelf at a gun shop or sporting goods store, but there wouldn't be stockpiles like you would find in a former Soviet republic. Speaking of which, where are you getting surplus ammo for Maggie's Communist Bloc Mosin Nagant? I should also point out that they are really heavy, and what are the odds that an old relic like that is gonna be in decent enough shape to actually shoot reliably? /end rant
and spot on about the Tennessee Top Hat! Sucks his family got eaten getting away from him!! Why??
as far as the gun, doesn't seem to be much shooting. Heavy makes sense to tear open heads. Plus beggars can't be choosers, if you find a gun and ammo- use it till the wheels fall off. But yea generally WD details don't hold up I try not to let it ruin the ride. you see -a Bloc Mosin Nagant, they see- an old gun from props department usability and ammo never even entered the conversation
Not much excitement this week. Didn't think I would say this but looking forward to going back to the hospital....

I really like Eugene but he reminds me of Bill Hicks for some reason, which is a little off-putting.

I really expected them to make it to DC before he had to confess the truth. I feel like this season started so strong, and now it's lost all direction.

It also seems like a short season. I'm hearing that there's only 3 more episodes till season ends. No wonder Everything was getting resolved fast (Terminus).

That will be the mid-season finale so there will be another half of this season after a break. It's odd but that's how they have been doing it.

AMC originally started doing this as to not compete with NFL playoffs etc etc for ratings, but more or less now they do it to spread out their very thin line up of actual hit shows for ad money into other financial quarters.
I could go on an on as I've got a huge bone to pick with AMC for under budgeting/firing Darabont etc, but it just boils down to money. AMC bean counters are pretty cheap. Instead having that stupid Talking Dead show or making a teeny bopper Walking Dead spin off (it's rumored that it will have a pretty young cast- so get ready for a Gotham style WD) to appeal to a younger core audience they could actually put money into making the original Walking Dead better. Maybe get some decent writers, flesh out a few more episodes to make the season longer. Give characters some backstory with flashbacks to the outbreak. You know stuff that actually makes us care when a character dies? Remember Story matters? Nope it's all lowest common denominator and how to keep the cash cow going. Story what's that? More merchandising!

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Yeah Lixx I agree with all of that. AMC has a history of doing shady things to cut corners and make money. The last couple episodes even have interruptions warning people that if they have certain cable providers they will miss the end of this season and lose amc forever unless they call and pressure the company themselves. It's a big stupid tactic to try and squeeze more money for themselves and the funniest part is that they do it DURING the show on the top and bottom of the screen rather then just while commercials are playing. It's a joke now with the amc warnings flashing then during actual walking dead commercials DirecTV has their own message saying the amc message is bogus.

Yeah glad to know others feel the same way. I'm torn because I love the earlier source material (this whole Hilltop/Negan thing in more current issues is beyond boring IMO) and I really wanted to see how it played out on the big screen with Darabont at the helm. I loved season 1 and at first didn't really like season 2 (I love it now) because it was slow- but it was all due to AMC putting huge budget constraints on Darabont basically tying the cast to the one locale. His original ideas for season 2 opener especially were vastly different. Anyhow, while I still watch to see how things in the comic play out on TV I really wish they would ratchet it up a few notches in misery and death like the comic. Season 3 started out strong but ended up pitiful, Season 4 was hit an miss.
So glad I watch all of these episodes on iTunes. I'd be super annoyed watching it on TV.

Mosin Nagants are plentiful and ammo isn't that hard to come by. It's a bolt action rifle with a built in bayonet so it's more useful and reliable than it looks. Anyway it seems that the group constantly looses weapons and gear anyway so that kind of prepping goes out the window pretty fast. You use what you can find I guess.
What bothers me more is the fact that they always build make shift weapons but never any kind of body protection. They try not to get bitten but you often see them punching walkers in the face. I've been in fist fights before and I can tell you that punching someone in the face/mouth can get your fist cut by teeth. If I where in that world I would make it a practice to look for work gloves when going out on a supply run.
No...that's not all I got. Eat a three inch dick footlong you prick.

Just happy one of my predictions was finally accurate

Thought that bit was great (before it got ran into the ground) and literally laughed out loud when the elephant mullet in the room was finally addressed.

Yeah I can't fathom how anyone can be stupid enough to run around for months and months during a zombie apocalypse is a cut off t-shirt and jeans. It would be easy to make decent protection. Even just a thick leather jacket would be bite-proof. Boots maybe? Or duct tape from your ankle to knee would work. Forearm guards are a MUST as well.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I was kind of excited for this episode but it put me the sleep. Let's mention the episode title via someone speaking and have super obvious tie-ins to earlier episodes that make no sense. Like:
Carol still being sensitive to dead children even though she's supposedly tough now and Daryl risking others seeing the smoke of burning bodies and giving up their location. Real smart writing.

Season 1 Daryl would have been jumping up & down on the fallen book case yelling FUCK YOUR LIFE.
Exactly, then he does the opposite in the next scene and it's Carol's turn to object to Daryl leaving him there! Piss poor writing when a character does the opposite on moral grounds a scene later.

No one could have survived that. I had to laugh when it started to flip over in mid air but somehow lands on its wheels!
yea, way to many creative changes behind the curtain, it does seem all over the place. top to bottom. I'll still watch and suspend logic but I'm hoping for a spin-off in another network with its act together.
I loved it when she got hit by a car tho! that was awesome-
Lixx- yeah totally made me laugh also. Even before it happened I was like, cmon thats crazy. And even if it were to somehow stick a perfect landing, they would not walk away that easy.
True- I laughed at that also, the whole time I was waiting for Carol to come up with a tricky plan to get in the hospital. Wasn't expecting that haha
