Ehhhh I kind of feel bad for the Devils. Stoll clearly boards Gionta right before Bernier boards Scuderi. Refs only see the one but not the other? Come on! I mean I just want to see a good game, I'm not favoring either team. Should have offset each other on calls. Now the Devils are in a 0-3 hole. Refs should not decide the game.

Daayum! Kings are all over the Devils in game 6.
4-0 in the first period?! Wish I could have seen the 1st.

Bernier got a 5 minute major and a game misconduct so the Kings had a 'unlimited goals' 5 minute power play and scored 3 goals on it. Wow it's getting chippy out there. Clarkson & Carter got game misconducts and everyone is finishing checks really hard. I'm wondering if anyone is going to be able to even skate with the cup.

Scuderi is a tough mofo coming back from that faceplant into the glass.
Amazing final game for the Kings.

Anyone following the strike talk closely? I honestly swear the NHL is really trying to destroy any remaining love I have for this sport. Another lockout, especially one caused purely from all the business aspects of it (that's money and nothing else), is really going to be a disaster.

Barring any knowledge of the interowrking of the negotiations, I will almost always tend to side with the players. BUT, in frive years from the last lockout, to the '10-11 season, the salary cap went up 20 million dollars :| . The NHL has been running smoothly for a long time, and it seems pretty clear someone, somewhere is messing this up. With all the money that they have, you mean to tell me that they can't hire some business expertise to fix whatever clogged up model Bettman and the owners have decided to go with. Seats are still selling, fans are still buying merch, and advertisement is more than it has ever been. MNC have done a lot more with a lot less, NHL, fix thyself!

Yeah the players (i.e. UFA's) have been getting themselves some huge front loaded long term deals. None of these cats are really worth the dough being shelled out for them BUT I also blame the owners on this one because they're the ones shelling out the dough for these crazy contracts. I know that in this day an age even a 50 goal scorer is a rare thing but some of these players barely average 65 points and they're getting such crazy deals. Both sides suck and the fans are the ones that will suffer.

Last lock out was suppose to lower ticket prices but instead they've gone up 40% in the last 7 years. I don't get it, hockey is the least televised sport in existence yet this fucking systems rapes their loyal fan base. Pfffff- fuck hockey. Let it crash an burn till no one wants to watch it and they have to give seats away. Then they'll get their heads out of their asses.

good thing San Francisco got a new ECHL team. Cheap hockey, lots of fight, lots of goals...what more could you want?

Well we might not have a season but NHL 13 is right around the corner, and I just had to watch this to remind me of what I love about hockey. Game three 2011 SC finals:

Mainly because I love the Bruins but I can't recall a more thrilling game in the last 20 years of watching the Stanley Cup. Last year was sleepy city.

Love the ECHL, especially since it is the east coast hockey league and is all the way in Alaska

Wheeling Thunderbirds( now the Nailers) were my first hockey experience.

Seeing Horton take that massive hit from Rome is still tough to watch. Ouch.

Yeah it's a shame that it was the motivator for the Bruins to get their act together. I hope Horton doesn't get another concussion anytime soon or he's pretty much Savard. Now if only the Bruins could get rid of Thomas and Savard's contracts and free up some cash to get Lucic, Horton, Seguin signed up before next year!

Thomas and his 'year off' still get me every time, what a guy. Guess if there is a lockout they'll all be laughing at the fans (all the way to the bank).

I know! Thomas is a whackjob. I can respect his beliefs differ from mine, but really way to go from being a great goaltender to screwing over your team!

I don't know eh, I kind of respect that. We've only got one life, and no one is getting younger... Why not? Does he owe anyone anything?

Well actually, according to his contract, he does. 'Though,as a Habs fan, if he is there or not is pretty much all the same to me. You would think someone should hold these guys accountable [Alexander Radulov anyone?]

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
So...the SF Bulls has been hosting a tournament these past couple of days. The cool part is that we are skating in the historic Cow Palace. The bad part...it's the Cow Palace and that place is pretty old. I don't know how many of you have me on Instagram/facebook but I took a pic of our...ummm...epic "locker room".

Image
they got wise after the first day and instead of 1 "locker room", each team got 2. We still didn't fit inside it.

the path to the ice
Image

and we were the first ones to step on the ice that day for the start of the tournament
Image

I haven't played tournament or leagues in a few years, just pick up with people that just want to play and have fun (we have beer on the bench). My first game was terrible...and our goalie admitted to me afterwards that he felt a bit scared. We pulled out a 6-3 win and today, we were doing much better at 5-0. Odd format...15min running time periods with penalty shots instead of sitting in the box for all penalties. One more game tomorrow and then play-offs next week. We doing well for a team that's only been playing together a few days before the tournament started. The best part, we got the company we work for to sponsor us. The only thing we had to pay for was our USA Hockey fees ($50). My co-worker calls me a sell-out cause he knows I hate the company and here I am playing for the company.

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
Well...3 games later with a record of 2-1 (GF: 11, GA: 5) we make it to the play-offs this coming weekend. This IS the worst run tournament ever. I managed to get away with a few penalties but so did the other teams (let's just say I'm not the cleanest player when wins are needed). I also came away with 2 slight bruises from pucks. One on my inside left elbow and one on my right clavicle...in the same game. The team we lost to did not make the play-offs and the scouting report says the team we play should be playing in the division above us.
Now I just gotta wait to get my hands on NHL13 :(
