Morgan ruined the whole episode for me. I felt he was practically saying to the wolves, "You need to regroup, replan, and come try this again. You've tried to kill me twice now. Third times a charm."

What was the point? Do wolves want food? Slaves? Chaos? Seemed like they had no plan or desire except slaughter.

I think, or hope, Morgan's done with his "all life is precious" baloney. It seemed that was the way he was headed when he finally killed that dude at the end.

Hoping the rest of the Wolves that left get eaten by the herd of walkers headed their way.

I think the point of the Wolves is revenge. Aren't they the people that have been kicked out of Alexandria? Maybe I'm making that up.

Okay, I caved and had a look at the first two episodes. I'll say that last night's entry was well directed and assembled. I even enjoyed the bookends with the lasagna.

Interesting to note that it was directed by David Lynch's daughter. I'd heard that she was back behind the camera again, but didn't know that she'd stepped into so much television work until I looked her up last night.

We always use spoilers when talking about last night's episode, maybe you missed the memo cramming for your faux moderator merit badge. To answer your question:

The wolves found pics of Alexandia & came to tear it down. They are savages bent on destroying anything that resembles life before the world went to shit.

This makes much more sense than what I said.

Carol the ultimate pragmatist:
"Your Dad used to hit you and then he got himself killed . . . it happened. Now its done. You live with it or it eats you up. Go home."

That episode was superb. Who doesn't love it when Carol puts on her game face and goes to work?
I was just starting to wonder where the story was going and then all-hell broke loose!

Has the show ever stated where they were going to lead the zombie exodus to, had the Wolves not attacked at the exact same time?

^^ Didn't they just say 'a few miles down the road' or something vague like that?

They may have, I missed it if so. Don't see how that changes anything though. Alexandria's noise would still lead the pack right to them, just a few days later.

I thought they were leading that group towards the quarry. So the season opener is a brief glimpse of the final season episode.

psilo, I get the wolves just want destruction but I would also tend to think must people out there 'surviving' would be on the brink of starvation so after having the energy and strength to maul through this village I would think they would head straight for kitchens and pantries. Way to much time spent on repeatedly bashing in the heads of already bashed in heads. I suppose the comics are better here. Often read material lends to more logic than the visual.

Yes this. But also, I wonder if the Wolves weren't a group founded by the three (now two) people that were exiled from Alexandria. Although if that's the case they would have always known where Alexandria was and wouldn't have needed pictures to tip them off.

I also found it strange that the hoard has been magically resolved. Based on the first episode they should have been heading towards Alexandria either before or during the Wolves invasion, which would have put the Wolves directly in the path of the zombies.

No, the first episode had them leading the zombies OUT of the quarry because the trucks that were keeping the zombies in were about to fail. Once the trucks stopped acting as a barricade the zombies would all come out of the quarry and head directly for Alexandria. So that plan was to have a controlled release and lead them several miles away, at which point they'd be out of ear-shot and headed away from their town. But then it went to shit, and then somehow everything is okay? I still don't get what happened to the hoard.

I think they are trying to show the timeline so the wolves attacked then we see the horn go off when that truck crashes into the wall but the hoard is pretty far away at that point. So yes the little town fought off the wolves invasion but the hoard should be there shortly right? One of those out of the frying pan into the fire things. So if I'm right at the end of that episode the hoard is shambling towards what's left of Alexandria. At least that's what I picked up from the first two episodes.

Yes, the Wolves attack is taking place at the same time as the Walker herd is being lead away. The herd will show up next episode, unless they do another flashback, and/or flashsideways.

Also, as far as WHO the Wolves are, some have suggested they may be the people who the cannibals took Terminus away from. Or something like that.

BTW, they are/were leading the herd of Walkers 20 miles away.

I'm so busy I can't even watch Walking Dead, doesn't seem like I'm missing much though. I guess I'll get to it eventually, I'm in no rush. Sounds like Rick & Co are going to show up at Alexandria with a giant horde of zombies in tow and it's going to be a crappy CGI mess i.e. Lord of the Rings big battle scene. Did they at least trim the fat by killing some of the cast?

I'm caught up now. I don't really understand how online (not here necessarily) everyone is raving about the JSS episode. I thought it sucked and completely showed how what 2 years into the apocalypse people are still dumb and naive. Every time a critical situation happens (say an attack of some sort- living or dead) these Alexandria people are all deer in headlights. The acting is so bad an goes against any natural human instinct to survive in these situations. I get some people might freeze but come on every single fucking one of them? It's so over emphasized, sheltered or not, they had to survive for this long regardless so they had to go and encounter shit (living and dead). So I definitely don't think the entire population would be composed of red shirt dumb ass "what do I do? HELP!" people.

I know it's a tool to show the dichotomy between Rick's group and Alexandria but it's being done poorly. Oh and Morgan WTF? You've gone from a character I love to one I hate in two episodes. I sometimes think this show really does and awful job at the humanity part while brutality they have down to a science. There should more levels to the humanity element, not black and white you like to kill (and regret it unless you're stereotypical villain) or you don't (and you're high and mighty or just plain naive).

Generally I agree with your views about the show but the Alexandria people being just regular people does mostly make sense. They were evacuated by the military before anything bad happened to any of them. Then placed in this self-sustaining community with million dollar houses and solar power and water supplies that recycle themselves. They built the wall before zombies were any kind of problem. They haven't even had to scavenge for food. Most of them had still never even fired a weapon. So in essence it was as though a group of crazy murders attacked a rich fancy neighborhood in broad daylight in a world without a police force.

Yeah it's a pretty silly plot device to put a town in a time bubble that way but at least they explained it well last season so even if it isn't realistic it still makes sense as far as the story is concerned.

I like Morgan. The way he went from a father protecting his kid but unwilling to shoot his zombie wife to a total nut job who booby trapped an entire town after his wife ate his kid and now to the dude from the old kung-fu show is pretty entertaining. It makes sense that he sees all life as equally important whether someone is good or bad or something in the middle because he has no one left to protect. It's just him. Though in this show when a person of color starts thinking about right and wrong and trying to be "good" their days are usually numbered.

Serious answer: Yes,
Qualifier: There is so much more I hate about the world though, not just TV shows/people. I've never had much patience and that old saying "you just have to accept that's the way things are" I refuse to comply with. Putting it mildly I subject myself to absolute misery (not always willingly) so the few things I like I just love and appreciate that much more. Make sense?

I was thinking to day "the nicer I become the less tolerant I am." It seems like a contradiction but the lighter side of me expects more common decency and thoughtfulness.

Of, back to bad but semi-entertaining tv banter.

Maybe I'm bored, maybe I keep hoping each week it will get better? Maybe I keep hoping most of the cast will get eaten? Maybe I'm rooting for the zombies? Plenty of reasons.

But you'll never convince me the show is well written, its just nose dived since about the middle of season 3.

Agreed. I continue watching almost as a silent dare to the writers/producers to make the show as good as it has the potential to be.

After watching that joke of a show Fear The Walking Dead it's easy to overlook the flaws in The Walking Dead and enjoy it quite a bit more this season.
