hmm, i never even heard of this term and it's strange to read that their is a term, lifestyle or classification for a certain a way of life. it's strange especially since we all have our reasons for what we choose to fit our own lifestyles... so why put a name to it? it only causes indifference?

I keep on telling myself to stop posting in this thread but I cant..

Special clarification because I dont think its really been explained..

Straight edge is a lifetime commitment to abstain from drugs and alcohol. You can only be straight edge once. once you "break edge" thats it theres no second round.. The distinction/label comes from punk and hardcore scene. outside of that it is pretty much nonsense to the rest of the world. without punk/hardcore there is no straight edge.

and for real. im out.. back to toys... and LOST.

It's definately not something that can be summed up in one post or even one thread. There's a pretty good book on it called All Ages. I'm not sure if it's still in print.

I am straight edge, and have had exactly 2 vicodin pills in my life (I had brain surgery). It was not fun. I had some of the negative side effects. Sleeping like I was in a coma and getting up wide awake and having extremely realistic and terrifying nightmares. I took two and decided I would stick with ibuprofen for any pain. But that's just my experience.
Do you think it's possible that those effects were from, you know, the brain surgery?

No, I've known a couple other people that have had the same effects from vicodin. It's not fun, especially the nightmares. I can safely say it had nothing to do with the surgery.

Thats all part of the fun.. lol. j/k

I know these nightmares. A few years ago I had my tonsils removed and was prescribed liquid codeine. After about 2-3 weeks of constant use I finally had this terrible series of nightmares, then I knew it was time to take it easy on the codeine.

One dream started with a theme resturaunt style theme park where a cowboy guided me thru a mountain forest while chased by demon bores (?).. then to the dungeon of a castle, walls covered in yellow waxy drippy oily liquid (that resembled the codeine I was drinking) that made me slide 10 stories to the bottom where I was trapped and nibbled at by the park owners 12 greek children. very scary shit.. scared me sober.. haha.

Thanks Kirkland...I hate jocks!!! However I was in the varsity football and wrestling teams in High School. I was kinda an outcast from those guys though as I would show up to practice with a Millions of Dead Cops or Black Flag shirt and a mohawk and shit like that.

Also I have been talking Jui-Jitsu(8 years) and doing shoot fighting(3 years) and have competed in about 5 MMA matches here in San Diego. I'm at 225 lbs so I fight in a heavyweight class. I still train but I no longer fight because I am a supervisor where I work and my store manager didn't like it when I would come to work with bruises and shit on my face or/and head!

Just out of curiosity, what makes ibuprofen ok to take but not vicodin? After all they are essentially the same thing.

Vicodin is a synthetic Opiate combined with generic Tylenol and Ibuprofen is just Ibuprofen.

I'm so far from straight edge its rediculous so no comment on the rest.
