Right now, there really are not a lot of bands that I'm interested in. Everybody wants to be either Ceremony or MLIW. The only current band that I'm really into is Get Rad. If you're not familiar with them, I suggest you check them out.

But the Cro-mags at their height, were unstoppable. AOQ is a flawless album. . Comparing Cali and NYHC is apples and oranges. And as for that SOIA video. It was clearly a joke but at the same time. During that time, that was a reality. antknee wrote: Right now, there really are not a lot of bands that I'm interested in. Everybody wants to be either Ceremony or MLIW. My advice is that you stop letting the the b9 board tell you what hardcore exists.

Re: who are/were the best hardcore band?
My point is that Ceremony and Modern Life Is War are two of the "bigger" bands of the last couple years, and as is usually the case, they have spawned many imitators. While I like both of those bands, I have little to no interest in any of the bands that sound like them. I guess all of the CDs I bought by AN clones 5 years ago that are collecting dust taught me a lesson about that kind of stuff. The only bands that hold my interest that have popped up in the last year or two are Get Rad and Harms Way. There's just not a lot of new stuff that is catching my interest, but I'm willing to check out anybody.
As for the B9 board, I don't look at it and have never posted on it. My girlfriend has for some inexplicable reason.

Re: who are/were the best hardcore band?
Just curious, but I recently unearthed a stack of original master tapes that were given to me of early BYO catalog recordings. These are the original 2" and 1/4" masters from bands like Battalion Of Saints, Aggression, Brigade, I Scream, Wonderwall and the ilk. I'm thinking of parting with them.
Would the sell section of this board be an okay spot to try and sell? I thought this thread sort of eased me into this question before I just posted them there... Or am I completely off my rocker?

No question havingmysay wrote: i'm sure there are other more suitable boards where you could get top dollar but i would not know what they were off hand. That makes two of us and I wouldn't even know (or even care) what top dollar is... better in the hands of a die hard collector than collecting dust in the garage

Re: who are/were the best hardcore band?
Why not offer them back to the bands? I know Aggression and Battalion of Saints are probably not doing so hot with residuals money. And what about BYO themsleves? The Brigade dudes run that shit still don t they? They could re release this stuff if it hasn't been rereleased a million times by now. Just a thought. 666doll wrote: Just curious, but I recently unearthed a stack of original master tapes that were given to me of early BYO catalog recordings. Re: who are/were the best hardcore band?
I dont think the master tapes is whats keeping them from re-releasing any of this stuff but I think thats a good idea as well.
After them though I know more than enough people who will fairly compensate you for these.

Re: who are/were the best hardcore band?
Believe me, I warned her in detail about the B9 board, telling her that by no means should she post any personal information. So what's the first thing she does? Makes her avatar a picture of herself from Myspace. Thankfully she only posted there for about a week before she realized how dumb it is. Anyway, back on topic. I was thinking about how hard it is for me to really choose favorites from old bands in a general sense due to the difference in styles and time periods. I think what this calls for is a top 5 or so by era. For me, 80-85 would be Minor Threat, Void, Jerry's Kids, SSD and Poison Idea. Uniform Choice is on the bubble. 86-90 is Judge, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Dag Nasty and Slapshot. 90s is Integrity (Humanity is the Devil was the first hardcore CD I bought, so they'll always hold a special place in my heart), Ringworm, Turmoil, Madball and Merauder. Top 5 albums of all time (at least as of this moment), in no order: Gorilla Biscuits-Start Today Integrity-Humanity is the Devil Jerry's Kids- Is This My World? Turmoil-The Process Of Carry On-A Life Less Plagued

The Brigade dudes run that shit still don t they? They could re release this stuff if it hasn't been rereleased a million times by now. Just a thought. I think you're missing the point. None of the tapes that I own is unreleased material. These are all the Master Recording Tapes that have been turned into LP's, Cassettes and finally CD's that are official BYO releases. Once they became digital files, the Sterns had no use for the physical tapes and were throwing them into the trash bins. I asked for them instead and they gave them to me. As far as the financial status of any of the bands is a moot point because the material on these tapes are between the bands and BYO. Neither these tapes, nor I have anything to do with that. Does that make sense? They are of no use to the bands or BYO any longer. If you're worried about how the bands are doing financially, I suggest buying their records or digital downloads where they would receive royalties. These Masters play no part in it any longer since they are already out there and have been for literally years. Now they are merely a collectible.

Growing Concern is a relatively new band that play Montreal HardCore in the old style. They have nothing to sell and I don't know them personaly so I feel OK the link this : http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =362003096They played a show yesterday at Usine 106U. They hang all sort of art and fucked up toys there. This is where Away from Voivod usually expose is stuff. This migth interest some of you.
